Guests of The James Taylor Quartet, Bloc Party and People in Planes, and recent winners of Battle of the Bands contests The Gathering and Circular 2007, Freak Unique are currently turning heads and creating a buzz with their radical blend of genres.
Having just returned from their UK support tour with The James Taylor Quartet, and numerous festivals including Brecon Jazz, Freak Unique have now been approached by the international Silverword Music Group and Optimum Records, as well as the South Wales based Drop-D Records and Spiral Records, however, Freak Unique are still looking for a Label and Management that best suits their style and attitude.
Originally conceived as an improvisational group, taking elements of funk, jazz, drum’n’bass, hip-hop, reggae and metal, Freak Unique are committed to musicianship with an anything-goes approach.
Formed March 2005 in South Wales, this energetic trio has whipped up a real craze with their fresh style and powerful sound, filling up the dance floors. As word of mouth grows, Freak Unique are enjoying a strong reputation for memorable stage performances.
Freak Unique have their own merchandise range and an online shop. They regularly put on and promote live shows in and around Wales, including a recently packed album launch show. They also have a number of national promotion teams working for them – Deuce Management & Promotion, Promo UK, Circular Music Events and L.M. Promotions.
The band have provided the soundtracks for a number of television shows such as ITV’s It’s My Shout and have also appeared on BBC Wales News. They also regularly perform on BBC Radio Wales, Bridge Fm and Celtica Radio, as well as numerous web-based radio pod casts.
