At the time when his school friends were dedicated to the music of the first Boy-groups and Euro-Disco, 10-year old Fritz Hanselmann (a.k.a. DJ Freaza) discovered a type of music that was already causing a stir the USA. The music was available here, but was not yet popular. This was Hip Hop from groups like Public Enemy or N.W.A. (led by Dr. Dre, who is now a successful producer). Freaza wanted nothing more than to be a Hip Hop fan. As an apprentice, he used his first salary to purchase DJ equipment and began to refine his skills as a DJ a local parties. His mentor at that time was DJ Sebb who guided this newcomer through all the curves. Using his talent and flawless technique Freaza slowly worked his way up to the biggest and most important clubs in Zürich and the surrounding area. He emerged on the concert scene as a polished DJ diamond and was asked to DJ for concerts given by prominent Hip Hop performers such as EPMD, Sugar Hill Ganz, Gangstarr and EMINEM. Even Tony Touch, the American DJ luminary was impressed by Freaza and used him to excite the crowd at a number of events. Freaza has earned his place among the Swiss Hip Hop DJ elite and often booked by prominent clubs such as Indochine (ZH), Kaufleuten (ZH), Tonimolkerei (ZH), Maag Music Hall (ZH) and Riders Palace (GR). Freaza was involved in the Milk events which was the most successful series of Black music events ever held in Zürich. He also played an important role in Choice and "Pimps On Decks". Freaza has been a part of the development of Hip Hop in Switzerland from the beginning and has experience and know how that rookies can only dream of.
