Freddie Smith and Ben Thomas met in late 2005 at the BRIT School of Performing Arts, studying music. Ben’s background in Rock and Blues made an exciting and original combination with Fred’s Celtic tunes, and they started writing and performing traditional pieces together. Previously, they had both really wanted to start playing Jazz after being inspired by Stephanne Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, but hadn’t yet found anyone to play with. Now was the perfect opportunity for them to really experiment with old and new Jazz styles, and so they set to work writing and developing their own, also doing a lot of work with a fellow classmate, Tom Driessler, on double-bass. Over the last two years they have played in venues such as the Royal Opera House, QE2, Grosvenor House Hotel, Leeds Castle and the House of Commons Jazz Club at Portcullis House, as well as pubs and music bars around London. Now they have left the BRIT School they are working on more and more material, taking influence from everything around them.

Hey mates, miss ya and hope the both of you wastrels are back in the throes of collaboration! Let me know what's up with ya!
Hope you guys are making beautiful music together.
I just wanted to let you know that I've posted a new composition dedicated to my friend, Rob, who passed away this past Friday. He was a wonderful person and, like you, one of the first friends I made on myspace. Like you, he made me feel warm, welcomed and wanted.
I've just posted a new composition that I wrote and dedicated to him called, "All Too Soon". I hope it captures the essence of my affection for him.
Hey Bro, how are you?? Im hopefully coming back up to london permanently soon...then hopefully I can start doing some gigs 2... good christmas and new year? Jx
Happy New Year ya big bucket of talent!!!! Chuffed to hear that you and Ben are going to get back together soon! Crimbo and New Years were pretty quiet for me and that's just fine. Hehehe, people get so crazy at that time of the year that it's kind of nice just to wander away from the crowd. Hope your holiday season lived up to your expectations.
Still working on my book. I'm starting the 13th chapter today. Still composing and recording new material. Still not enough hours in the day! Oh well, I'll get plenty of rest when I'm dead.
I just wanted to stop by to wish the both of you magnificent musical miscreants a wonderful, beautiful, crazy, fun, delicious and crackin' Crimbo!! I don't know if Ben is still on tour, but if he is, please tell him the same for me when you guys talk.
Thanks for all the beautiful music and friendship you've shared with me this past year.

Just got finished listening to your tunes yet again! They just tickle the hell outta me and put a big fat smile on my face that stays with me long after the music stops. Hehehe, if you could only read music imagine how great you guys could be!!!!
Sorry that I haven't gotten back to you in a while, but my dad is dying of lung and liver cancer. Between dealing with that, writing a book and composing and recording music, I sure wish Santa would give me a 48 hour day. Listening to your music sure lightens the load and I love you guys for it.
As Beethoven and I are celebrating our birthdays this Sunday, I decided to post a new composition, "Saint Louis Louise". It's my homage to the strippers of the 1950's. It's a classic 'bump and grind' song. Ya know, sexy and alluring, like me!! Hehehe, I'm a legend in my own mind, ain't I?
Anyhow, I just want the both of you to know that, like your music, you creep into my thoughts almost every day. You've been such terrific and supportive friends and you make me glad I was born.
Ho, Ho, Ho cause you can never have enough Ho's!!!
Hope you guys have a krazy, kool and love filled Crimbo!!!
