Freddie first picked up the saxophone when he was 14 years old. He had already been listening to jazz since he was 8. He went on to study music in high school and then off to college where he would further his music knowledge. Some of his teachers along the way were Otto Richard Gross (formally of the Stan Kenton Orchestra) and Timothy Miller. While studying at Eastern Michigan University, Freddie was playing gigs at night with alot of local blues and rock bands. One of the most famous was the Benny and the Jets band. Freddie would stay as Benny's sax player for nearly 10 years. Some bands that they had opened for were Mitch Rider, Rare Earth, Confederate Railroad, Eddie Money, The Kentucky Headhunters, Big Brother and the Holding Co., Mountain, the OJ's, Morris Day and the Time, Alto Reed and members of the Silver Bullet Band, Howling Diablos, etc. Freddie has been playing keyboards, and saxophones with Detroit-based country-rock band called Yankeeville for the past 2 years. He also has a smooth jazz project in th the works as well. Freddie also finds time to do recording sessions around the Detroit area with rock and blues goups.
