Ever have one of those moments where you stare deep, long and hard into the eyes of some very attractive person and you see yourself reflecting back? It's one of those life-stopping moments that take your breath away. As if the whole world stops for just a second and for that one second, it's all about you. And if you are like me, and each moment of your life has a soundtrack, then you might want to consider All Day by Freddie Jones to capture this particular sensational moment in time. Prepare to enter the smooth with this CD by Freddie Jones and company. We are talking trumpets here folks. We are talking Flugelhorn. Straight out of Carrollton, Texas. Ten tracks of jazz styling with a Texas flare. This is a fantastic collection of jazz trumpet. It's compelling and engaging stuff. It's subtle and extremely delicate. Jones is a great trumpet player and songwriter. There is a lot of evidence of that on this disc. He has a real talent for setting the mood and keeping you in the moment. Check out the elegant horn work on a tune like "L' Flight". Jones knows his instrument well and plays with a virtuoso passion. He is also a good vocalist. Check out his vocal styling on the tune "Something About You".
Jones has some good people working with him on this project. Damon Criswell does a great job on the keyboards on most of the tracks while Rick Rigsby turns in some great bass lines. Jennifer Bryan provides some outstanding violin work while Shelley Carroll handles a great saxophone solo on the tune "..10 Merete Street". Len Barnett on Percussion and Steve Curry on guitar. I must admit, there isn't much guitar on this disc and I also must admit I didn't really miss hearing it.
So if you find yourself having one of those lightning bolt moments, you might want to push play on the new Freddie Jones. And stare long and hard back into those amazing eyes staring at you.
