. Born in 9th December 1977 and grown in Alvalade neighbourhood in Lisbon, Frederico Oliveira a.k.a. Freddy Locks belongs to a generation of musicians that came from that neighbourhood and made history in the punk-rock music scene in Portugal. Freddy begins to play music in a punk band by the age of 17. In that time he was commited to the anarquist and ocuppation movements in spain and Portugal. At the summer of 95 he has a few experiences that changed his life. In his words: "...In that summer i found my infinite light, the secret of positive reality. The thing that people call "god" and lives inside every living beeing. This happened after i felt the many revelations in places I've been, people i met and... Reggae music". After this, Freddy starts writing his songs and playing in the Lisbon subway and everywhere he goes. Althougth his background and message was anarquist, he sounded as a reggae singer. In 1999 he forms the band "Nature" and joins "20 pás 8". In both cases as lead singer and guitar player. With these bands, Freddy plays many concerts in ocupation sites and politic events, specially with "20 pás 8", which sound was described by the fans as "reggae-punk". This band ended on 2003. In 2004 Freddy records his first solo album, with reggae producer Asher G, called "Rootsrockstruggeling". This record was made with no label support, but reaches the portuguese national radio Antena 3 and the song "Wake up" was named "song of the year" by the Reggae show "Radio Fazuma". Also in 2004, Freddy forms the band "Poormanstyle". They get to play in the same stage as reggae legends "Sly & Robbie". In 2006 Freddy starts his solo project and releases the record "Bring up the feeling" on the first indie/reggae label in Portugal called "Gumalaka". This record was named the album of the year by Reggae comunity "Sunshine reggae" and "Zona Reggae". Its single was playlisted on "Antena3" and reached the 1 position on the Public..s Chart. The videoclip of the same song was also playlisted on MTV Portugal. "Bring up the feeling" record is referred as the example of the evolution of reggae music coming from Portugal. Touring Portugal during 2008, and joining new members to his band, Freddy Locks is now recording his new record and looking for a label which could help him to show his music to the world.


==== **Portugues** ===== Frederico Oliveira a.k.a. Freddy Locks, nasceu a 9 de Dezembro de 1977. Cresceu no mítico bairro de Alvalade em Lisboa e faz parte de uma geração que fez historia na cena punk-rock portuguesa, nomes como "Censurados", "Ku de judas", "Tara perdida", "Dalai lume", etc, são tudo bandas que nasceram ou que vieram de Alvalade e com quem Freddy partilhou muitos momentos da sua juventude. Freddy começou a tocar musica numa banda punk aos 17 anos. Nessa altura estava completamente empenhado no movimento anarquista e Okupa de Portugal e Espanha. No verão de 1995 teve uma serie de experiênçias que mudaram a sua vida para sempre. Nas suas palavras: "...nesse verão encontrei a minha luz, o segredo da realidade positiva. Encontrei aquilo a que as pessoas chamam "Deus" e que vive dentro de todos os seres vivos. Encontrei o meu caminho através dos lugares e das pessoas que conheci e através da musica Reggae". È nesta altura que Freddy começa a esccrever canções e a tocar e a cantar no Metro de Lisboa e em todos os lugares por onde passa. Apesar da sua mensagem ser anarquista, a sua voz sempre soava a reggae. Em 1999 ele formou a banda "Nature" e juntou-se aos "20 pás 8". Em ambos os casos como vocalista principal e guitarrista. Com estas bandas Freddy tocou em varias casas okupadas e eventos anarquistas, especialmente com "20 pás 8" cujo som e mensagem era descrito pelos fans como "reggae-punk". Esta banda acabou em 2003. Em 2004 Freddy grava o seu primeiro álbum com o produtor de reggae Asher Guardian, chamado "Rootsrockstruggelling". Este Album foi totalmente independente , mas chegou á rádio Antena3 e a canção "Wake up" foi nomeada "canção do Ano" pelo programa "Radio Fazuma". Também em 2004, Freddy formou a banda "Poormanstyle", banda que chegou a partilhar o Palco com as lendas "Sly & Robbie" no festival Musa. Em 2006 Freddy começa o seu projecto a solo e grava o álbum "Bring up the feeling", pela editora "Gumalaka", a primeira editora independente de reggae em Portugal. Este álbum foi nomeado "Àlbum do ano" por uma votação nos sites "Sunshine reggae" e "Zona Reggae". O single "Bring up the feeling" entrou para a playlist da rádio Antena3 e chegou numero um da tabela dos mais pedidos pelo publico. O videoclip da mesma canção também entrou na playlist da MTV Portugal. O álbum "bring up the feeling" é refençiado pela critica como uma prova do amadurecimento da musica reggae feita em Portugal. Em Digressão por Portugal em 2008, e juntando novos membros á sua banda, Freddy Locks está agora a gravar o seu novo disco e á procura de uma editora que o ajude a mostrar a sua musica ao mundo.
