Hey look! It's my book!!
Hiya folks!
My name is Fred Hembeck and I'm a cartoonist. I've been contributing odds and ends to various Marvel and DC Comics for over a quarter century now, not to mention a boatload of material to scores of fanzines from that same time period. And the latter is pretty much what you'll find collected within the 900 plus pages of "The Nearly Complete Essential Hembeck Archives Omnibus"(to be published by Image Comics, mid-February 2008). To learn even more about this extensive volume, I suggest you follow the link in the title over to a special page on my
Hembeck.com website where you'll find ALL the details, such as what exactly is included, and how you can get ahold of autographed copies directly from moi, or even--for a modest additional fee--copies featuring a fresh original drawing (character of your choice!) done by yours truly! Quite possibly the most exciting news in the book world since the release of the final "Harry Potter" volume (and quite possibly not), we're very excited about "The Nearly Complete Essential Hembeck Archives Omnibus" around these parts, and hope to share our giddiness with all our MySpace Friends!
Oh, that's right--I mentioned Hembeck.com, didn't I?
Well, if I ALREADY have a website, what the heck am I doing over here at MySpace, you may be wondering? Blame my daughter Julie. I do pretty much everything she tells me to do, and she thought having a MySpace page might be a nice adjunct to my regular blog, Fred Sez. And considering all the great folks I've met here, it seems as if she was right on the money--smart kid (she gets THAT from her mom)!
(I should also probably mention that I sell my original artwork--as well as carefully selected excess portions of my ever burgeoning comic book collection--over at eBay. You can check if you're curious--SOMETHING is always up for sale!)
In the category of blah blah blah, let it be known that I live in upstate New York with my wonderful wife Lynn (coming up on 29 years of wedded bliss) and our always entertaining teen-age daughter Julie, along with the cat brothers, Mario and Luigi (guess what little Julie was into when we got them nine years ago), and rabbit Romeo. I draw, I read, I listen to music, I watch TV, and--now more than ever--spend a whole lot of time on the computer!
Stop by and say "hi" if you get the chance! Cuz after all, this is MY space!...
