Check out recent videos from Fredi's latest performances in Switzerland!.. Fredi Meli is a Swiss bass player in the New York metropolitan area. In November of last year Fredi traveled to Switzerland to perform for the international release of the CD recording from the Sam Truempy Memorial Jazz Coalition (STMJC). .. On January 30th in the States, the Blacktails returned to the stage after a hiatus while recording in the studio. They debuted their new album, Inside Man, at the famed Puck in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to another sold-out crowd. They will officially release the CD in Manhattan at the Laurie Beechman Theater on Friday, February 26, 2010. .. The Blacktails sold out the Iridium in New York city on two separate occasions in 2007 and 2008... Fredi is working on a new project with a piano trio including his long-time rhythm section partner, drummer Derek Landel and guitarist Brian Moriarty. The trio covers jazz standards and some singer/songwriter pieces. The trio adds vocalist Lori Baur singing and playing keys on some tunes, and guest performances by violist Suzannah Scott-Moncrieff. .. In 2007 Fredi toured Switzerland with the STMJC in late August and early September. The coalition is made up of prominent Swiss musicians living in Switzerland and abroad. The tour was a huge success, capped off by an outstanding concert at the Jazz Club Glarus, which was attended by over 400 people in the "smallest capital in the world." Two short videos from this concert are posted under Fredi's videos here on MySpace. .. Fredi performs on acoustic and electric bass in several bands and can regularly be seen throughout the East Coast. Current core projects include the Blacktails, the Duke Baxter Band, and various jazz groups including the international STMJC. .. History: In the summer of 2006 Fredi performed in Europe with Swiss jazz pioneer, saxophonist Bruno Spoerri, along with guitarist Werner Fischer, drummer Gabriel Schiltknecht and vocalist Zoe Ann Goodson. .. Fredi was a member of the New York-based alternative rock band the Housepets and can be heard on their amazing 2002 album, "Eggtooth," which is available on CDBaby.com. Fredi has also had regular gigs with critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Meghan Cary, the Josh Irving Quartet, Kevin Danenberg's Prismatic Melon Quintet and others. .. Fredi toured in the past with his quartet, the Fredi Meli Quartet, including Henrik Sundman on guitar, Mattias Murhagen on saxophone and Mathias Kunzli on drums. They released two CDs including "Current," which is still available in limited release. Fredi also played on Josh Irving's debut album "Outside to Play," and is sought after for many recording projects... ...... -
