Hamilton musician Fred Magie has been writing and performing original songs for ten years. Currently recording with producer Trevor Titian, world-renowned musician Bill Dillon and drummer Tone Valcic, Fred aims to release his fourth album in spring of 2010.
Fred is easy going, introspective, and imaginative.. He has embraced a natural acoustic guitar sound reminiscent of Ron Sexsmith and Dave Matthews. But it’s his lyrics that have established Fred as a Canadian singer worth hearing. Fred explores issues of ambition, loss, and hope often through endearing characters and storylines.
Through his showcases in Hamilton area clubs and music festivals Fred has established himself as a well known local artist. Through his diligence in fine tuning his songs with the help of the team of musicians around him, he has set his sights on finding a much wider audience. So with the plans for the new record and an extensive touring schedule, Fred is poised to impress fans of adult alternative music across the country.
I have finally hit the road on a busking tour to raise money for War Child, Coast-to-coast – 50 cities – ALL PROCEEDS TO WARCHILD. Why? 66% of all war victims are CHILDREN. Shocked like me? War Child helps these children that have been affected by war. Check out the new blog – the whole story is up there. Love to have you be a part of it.
You’ll find a Blog, Tour page and a Bio page. I’ll be blogging daily from the road.

Yes, you and your wife have had your accounts hacked. I suggest changing your password. Unless you want to continue posting links to (I presume) porn sites. Your call. Hahaha.
Sorry for the mass comment but I just want to fill you in!
I've got a new record coming out!! I've been working on "Can't Let Go" for a long time and it's gonna be in stores in Canada on June the 5th so check it out! The single "11:30" was sent to radio last week so keep an ear out and request it. Hear it and a few other new tracks on my profile... "Can't Let Go" is available NOW on CD Baby.com and through iTunes soon.
I'll be having a CD release party on the 16th of June at the El Mocambo in Toronto. I'll have the full band and we'll be playing the new record live. Also, my good friend Mike Evin will be opening. Come down and join my party!!
On this weekend that for many of us is all about self-sacrifice, please take some time to consider sponsoring a child through Christian Children’s Fund, Compassion, Plan or World Vision…it only costs about $1 a day. (There are direct links to all four charities on my profile)
Hi Fred
Sounding great...very, very nice! I'm fighting international child poverty from over in KW and looking for anyone with a heart for children to help get the word out.
I found it. Rachmaninoff gave the inspiration to Eric Carmen for ALL BY MYSELF.
"The melody and chord structure for the popular power ballad, 'All By Myself' (of which the most successful versions have been recorded by Eric Carmen in 1975, and later Celine Dion in 1995), is borrowed heavily from Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor."
Ah, classical music...inspiring couples in TransAm's everywhere...
Yo Freddie! You missed one helluva movie, my friend. Get yourself to a theatre and see the final round. I felt myself welling up throughout it. Not the greatest movie of all-time (how could it beat 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure'?!?) but an excellent ending to my favourite cinematic series. I love Rocky. A lot.
I'm so thankful that my friends who are musicians are all good. You write excellent songs, Sir Magie. I always enjoy seeing you perform so I can sing along (quietly so others won't leave). Have a great Christmas. Go to bed before midnight on New Year's. That is the best thing you can do.
A belated response to your posting: yeah Sarah plays violin/sings on at least half the songs, and we even wrote a song together a month or so ago. We're also playing a longer set Dec 20 at the Casbah Lounge, if you are interested.
Sarah tells me she remembers you from St. Cuthbert's church! An interesting connection....
Anyhow, I'll look forward to sharing the bill with you at the Freeway, Dec 22.
