World hunger, why? The French agronomist Joseph Klatzmann, author of books such as Nourrir dix milliards d’hommes' [Feeding 10 billion humans] and Surpopulation: Mythe ou Menace? [Overpopulation: Myth or Threat?] died on 16 June. Here is an article from Africa on the same theme.
For many years we have read about hunger in Africa.
Newspaper headlines and television news have been saturated with gruesome scenes of corpses; and pictures of emaciated women and children standing helplessly before NGO officials waiting for food to be doled out to them.
Sudan, Burundi, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia have all experienced famine unparalleled in the history of the continent for the past forty years. Again we have seen statistics that show more than 800 million of our fellow humans suffering from chronic malnutrition; that on any day 1.3 million will go without food.
While these statistics are extremely shocking, we can still find governments that pursue policies that are nothing less than obscene – ordering the destruction of food and paying farmers to take land out of production in order that prices can be kept high.

I take a stand against social injustices in all forms and don't only focus on one area of world-wide distress.
My passions are: passion, politics, ending injustices: (false imprisonment, torture, violating treaties, invasions of sovereign lands, occupation (in all forms), firing rockets into countries that haven't asked for our help (Somalia and Pakistan, I hear you); imperialism, that doesn't work.
What about hunger, diseases, comforting the dying, motherless children, the unadopted, the disabled, the peaceful who find no peace?
What about raising your AWARENESS! You can't fight a ghost enemy, so I help define those ghosts. Knowledge is powerful, so read, then learn, then share that knowledge.

Who I'd like to meet: If it exists, I'd like to meet the ONE TRUE god FROM whom all thoughts and beliefs in god flow TO.
I might think there is one god and the diverse paths of many all find the way back to that one true supreme being, who is compassionate, and just, and forgiving, and caring, and revengeful, and understanding, and full of so much love, we can't begin to comprehend it.
I'd like to believe he exists. I just don't feel the need to believe it. I also see no sign of him in any religious faith that compels me to switch over.
Hypocrisy turned me away from organized religion.
But I don't believe there's one god that, if everyone doesn't worship that exact one god, then we're all doomed.
The god in my thoughts is more JUST than that. He is more fair than that. So I consider myself a spiritual girl, but I question a god who allows men, women and children to be butchered by self-proclaimed god-fearing people. ??

On September 18th, actor Jim Carrey posted a second message on YouTube for the U.S. Campaign for Burma and Human Rights Action Center:
"A couple of weeks ago, I sent you a message about a hero of mine named Aung San Suu Kyi, a brave lady in Burma who won the Nobel Peace Prize and who has often been compared to Ghandi or Nelson Mandela.
After she won 82% of the Parliamentary seats in her country, she was denied the right to govern, and held under house arrest by a military regime that has burned over 3,000 villages, forced millions from their homes, raped and tortured thousands, and recruited more child soldiers than any other country in the world.
