This photo is of Thich Quang Ðuc; born Lâm Van Tuc in 1897 – died June 11, 1963). He was a Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk who burned himself to death at a busy Saigon road intersection on June 11, 1963. Thich Quang Ðuc was protesting the persecution of Buddhists by South Vietnam's Ngo Dinh Diem administration. Photos of his self-immolation were circulated widely across the world and brought attention to the policies of the Diem regime. After his death, his body was re-cremated, but his heart remained intact. This was interpreted as a symbol of compassion and led Buddhists to revere him as a bodhisattva, heightening the impact of his death on the public psyche. He will forever remain in my heart, as a hero in the resistance against injustice and as one of the most selfless spirits to pass through this world.

I want to thank all for prayers and comfort to us while our grandson was in intensive care this last week. I am grateful for your friendship,I really am. I also thank the ones that kept his updates on the bulletin, that was nice. I ask Creator in behalf of my grandson for u and your loves ones to have all that is needed. JD's recovery will be slow but we are thankful he will recover, much to the doctors surprise. I know he would want me to tell u all how he is thankful also for your sincere prayers for him, have a good weekend and week coming.

It makes you feel like when I was a young girl on the rez, my grandmother use to lite a candle whem my grandfather and I were out fishing late. Good memories and warm feelings.
