Freedom to Marry is the gay and non-gay partnership working to win marriage equality nationwide. Headed by Evan Wolfson, one of America's leading civil rights advocates and lawyers, Freedom to Marry brings new resources and a renewed context of urgency and opportunity to this social justice movement. Freedom to Marry brings the work of its partner organizations into a larger whole, a shared civil rights campaign that fosters heightened outreach to non-gay allies.Who I'd like to meet:
Freedom to Marry encourages dialogue with Americans thinking through the need to end discrimination in marriage, provides support to targeted state and local efforts, and promotes fairness for all families, including same-sex couples and the children raised by gay parents. By working to secure equal access to civil marriage licenses from the government, we help reinforce our country's historic commitment to freedom, the pursuit of happiness, and equal justice for all. You can do your part to win the freedom to marry. There are many ways to GET INVOLVED:....Talk with other people about gay people and marriage equality, letting them know it matters to you and giving them a chance to ask questions and think anew. Use resources such as materials found on our website or in Why Marriage Matters, and educate yourself with the information available from many organizations, such as our national partners and statewide political organizations. Sign-up for their regular e-updates.
Learn the importance of storytelling and share one of your stories at our Story Center. Hearing the stories of real people and how the denial of marriage makes a difference in their everyday lives and the lives of their kids and loved ones is the most effective way to help people in the "reachable middle" understand how ending the exclusion from marriage is important.

Did you know that the 1940's classic film, "Reefer Madness" was based on a murder story from right here in Ybor City? Other known celebrity residents, a Bay area "God Father" was buried there. A long standing heritage of new immigrants starting over in America and a peaceful place to rest our ancestral souls. This is just one of the many interesting things you will learn as narrator Sammy Campisi takes us on a tour of The Historical Italian Club Cemetery in Ybor City. Another MC FILM produced documentary.

This is Shawn's cousin Susie. Sadly, he asked me to communicate to his top 40 friends on his and Chris' page that Chris passed away 2 weeks ago today at the age of 34. As all of you know from their story which aired on Intervention on A&E, Chris fought against his addiction to alcohol for many years, but in the end, he decided to end his life and lifelong struggle. Shawn, along with both sides of families and friends are devastated, but most of all, Shawn is because he found him. Please pray for him, he is taking it very hard. He also asked me to convey that you honor Chris and his life by TELLING his story. Tell everyone you know to view their page so that they can see what an amazing couple they were and so that this doesnt have to happen to anyone else...ADDICTION DOES KILL! Honor Chris by saying something on your page or theirs. Since the services, we have received thousands of messages from people all over the world that shared different ways that thier story on Intervention on A&E touched or changed their lives. Again, please pray for Shawn and all of us. This is a very tragic and painful loss to many.

The Party Kicks off Friday Night at Steam Fridays with International VJ David Knapp. There is an Over the top party planned that night at Chelsea’s Lounge and all the other clubs too. Saturday is what Ybor is Famous for WILD SATURDAYS!!! Sunday, start your day off at Streetcar Charlie’s for their “Praise the Lord & Pass the Biscuits, Gospel Brunch“!!! (The new outside cafe seating area is now open at Streetcar Charlie’s). Starting at 3pm - 9PM is the GaYBOR Labor Day Cabana Pool Party! Pool side at the Howard Johnson Riverside Plaze Hotel. Over looking the Hillsborough River & University of Tampa Parks. There will be a Fashion Show by OMG Magazine, Special host and Drag performances by our own Miss Joey Brooks and Arica Love, Dancers from Steam & G.BAR, a Kill the Keg party, DJ CK spinning the discs all night and so much more. 18 & up. 3 University have been invited!!! All doors open early in GaYBOR this night. There will be a Leather T-Dance at The Ybor Eagle & 80? T-Dance at G.BAR.
