Free-e-day, december 1st 2009, was set up by Dan Holloway (http://www.danholloway.wordpress.com) as a way of giving independent musicians, writers, artists, and filmmakers access to as wide an audience as possible, and to give fans of original, creative talent access in one place at one time to a whole range of talent that exists outside the mainstream.
A series of workshops, live broadcasts, and webchats on the day is designed to provide constructive help for those involved in producing culture independently, and to raise awareness of Indie culture in the public's mind.
Events include:
“What makes a collective work?” When is it a good idea to get together with others working in your field? What should you do together? And when should you steer clear? Hosted by Year Zero Writers, and featuring members of successful commercial and non-commercial collectives (TBC)
“Is it broke and should we fix it? What can creatives do to earn a crust in 2010?” – hosted by Dan Holloway featuring some household names TBC
"Intellectual Copyright and the Internet: what you need to know"
A big London bash (A real, physical one with proper people not avatars!) on a topic tbc hosted by Mockingbird
