Freegideira was born as a musical research conducted by multi-talented musician and rhyme improviser Denis Duarte. Improvisation is what keeps together these musicians from different backgrounds. It's a wild mix of acoustic and electronic, traditional and new that brings this puzzle together, including the audience, who's ready to sing, dance and improvise with Freegideira. Even the projected images are improvised and follow what's happening on stage.
The musicians bring to stage a whole lot of pre-recorded samples and beats; it's a digital stimulus for the improvisation game to begin. Lyrics, chords, images, riffs and grooves start an improvised appearance on stage, mixing rhythms and languages like maracatu, samba, choro, hip hop, rock n roll and whatever Freegideira is in the mood for!
Many instruments are present on stage, like beat-box, electric guitar, bass, mandolin, laptops, drums, MPC, an array of world percussion instruments and many vocals. On top of that, special lighting and projected images give the stage a special atmosphere. Freegideira's concert is easily adapted to concert houses, open-air stages, theaters or clubs.
Freegideira is a band which mixes brazilian music, eletronic beats, hip-hop, freestyle, rock and other kinds of music. Most of the performance is improvised, and most of the time the public is frying in the pan!
