About me:
This page was set up by FULLeBLUNT and we wholeheartedly support Jimmy's fight for freedom and his fight to prove his innocence! He also has another page at:
http://www.myspace.com/justice_for_jimmy
In 1992 Jimmy Dennis was a member of up and coming Philadelphia based R'n'B group 'Sensation'. In 1992 Jimmy Dennis and his group were on the verge on signing a recording contract. In 1992 Jimmy Dennis was sentenced to death for murder. In 1992 another innocent man was sentenced to death. Jimmy Dennis is an innocent man. He has been on death row at SCI Greene in Pennsylvania, U.S.A for the last 14 years.
On October 22, 1991, 17 year old Chedell Williams was murdered at Fern Rock station in Philadelphia for a pair of earrings. She was attacked by two men whilst a third waited in a getaway vehicle. Since being arrested for the crime Jimmy has constantly maintained that he had nothing to do with this terrible crime and that he is an innocent man. Whilst three suspects were involved in this murder, Jimmy is the only man ever to be charged for this crime.
There is NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE linking Jimmy to the crime or the crime scene. Jimmy had no connection to the vehicle used in the crime, he neither owned a car nor did he possess a driving license. The gun used has never been found nor has any gun amongst Jimmy's possessions. Forensic evidence in the case was poor to say the least and the necessary testing for fingerprints and the like, either did not take place or the results of such analysis has been witheld from the defence team. Nor were Chedell's gold earrings found in Jimmy's possession.
Jimmy's PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES do not match eyewitness accounts of the assailants. Three eyewitnesses state that the shooter was 5'9" or 5'10" in height and weighing between 170 - 190 pounds (12 - 13.5 stones). At the trial Jimmy's height was established at 5'5" and his weight 130 pounds (9.3 stones). Just three witnesses testified at the trial from around 50 in total, many of whom also described the shooter as being much taller and larger in build than Jimmy.
Jimmy had no reason and NO MOTIVE for committing such a crime. Jimmy did not have a violent criminal history. Jimmy was wholeheartedly committed to the advancement of his music career. Practicing up to 9 hours a day, Jimmy and his group 'Sensation' were fully focused and has a promising career in the music industry. Elder George Pratt from the production and entertainment division of G.W Management Incorporated testified at the trial that he had already agreed a verbal contract with Jimmy and was in the process of preparing a written version.
Furthermore Jimmy was about to become a father. He has never spent a full day with his daughter who was born a week after he was imprisoned. Would someone with so much at stake risk it all and murder for just a pair of earrings. Jimmy's case has set up written all over it and reeks of malpractice and injustice.
Imagine having to face death everyday for FOURTEEN - 14 - YEARS for a crime you didn't commit. To know that you're just a scapegoat, an answer for a public baying for blood, crying for the authorities to be "tough on crime", a pawn in some sick political game of chess. How many more innocent men will be sentenced to death to back up some political campaign promises, to win votes, to win funds. Has death row made the world a safer place? It is almost impossible for any of us to imagine because such a scenario only exists in our NIGHTMARES and it is this bad dream that has been Jimmy's life for the last fourteen years. Another resident of SCI Greene on 'Progress Drive' this system has taken Jimmy's voice, stolen a gifted and talented man away his future, his friends and his family, just as he was on the cusp of greatness. Jimmy's death sentence is the crime here!
Jimmy supporters stretch far and wide across the globe and have been working hard to get him home, but he needs more and more people to be aware of the injustice that is his case and he needs you help in his fight for freedom. In 1998 Jimmy's appeal for a new trial in the supreme court was refused with a 4 - 3 vote against, the closest vote in 25 years. More recently another of his appeals was refused last year. His hope and that of his legal team is to win a new trial in the Federal Court and ultimately win his freedom. He needs YOU to do whatever you can to raise awareness about this injustice. Please don't think you don't have the time, if you can go all out that's great, but if not, please take a few minutes to send out some e mails or just tell someone about Jimmy at home or at work. And like we say there's a whole host of people you can contact who can send you info about his case, badges, stickers. You can even contact us here and we'll chuck some stuff in the post to you. BUT PLEASE WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T DO NOTHING! Jimmy needs you more than you can know and believe we're gonna bring him home, the institution took away Jimmy's voice, please, like brother Bob said, won't you help him "sing, these songs of Freedom".
