Rob "Lance" Gamblin (Vocals, Guitar) has been in the Detroit Music scene for the last 18 years with such bands as "The Strangers", "Midnight Snack" and "Toe Jam". Rob’s musical career started more than 25 years ago as a guitar player and song writer in a small 3 piece original band called “Bacckus”. (maybe you've heard of the classic song "No More Mt. Dew" ... in D minor). OK well, anyway, after many songs like that Rob decided that a cover band might be a better idea instead.
The evolution of "Lance" has taken another turn as Rob has moved to the "Front Man" position in the group. Even though his petition to have Michael Jackson's vocal chords surgically implanted into his own throat was denied by the California Supreme Court, he looks forward to the new challenge.

Doug
Doug “ Stumpy Pepys” Bacckus (Drums, Vocals) is a seasoned veteran of the Detroit Music scene. Doug has been swinging the sticks for over 30 years with bands such as “Spectrum”, “Double Trouble”, “The Strangers” and Midnight Snack. Doug was lured to the “Dark Side” of music and decided to become a guitar player, but, when he realized that there were more than the 3 chords of G C and D he quickly went back to drums. Doug’s claim to fame was a mildly popular reggae version of “Heartbreak Hotel” recorded at Graceland. (which hit the charts at 86 in Japan in 1981). ***Fun Freelance Fact!: Doug is a distant cousin (3rd on his maternal side) to John "Stumpy" Pepys, who died mysteriously while choking on his own vomit in 1969. According to Doug: "It was really one of those things the authorities said, ‘Well, best left unsolved.’
Marko
I've was inspired to play guitar by the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix (what a combination!). Band's I have played with are Myth, Sidekick, David, Gasoline Alley, Sgt. Rock, Plain Jane, Electric Haze, and Cyclops. I play the 70's rock, like it was recorded, but I didn't die in 1979. Today's stuff is cool too, and I can "Dig in" to whatever is happening so long as "It Rocks". BTW: Every time I hear a song in the key of D minor, I want a Mt. Dew, and I don't know why. I'm working on a concept album that will blow away Sgt. Peppers or Tommy. It's called "Eat My Pie". It will involve migits dancing around minature replica's of Stonehedge and stuff like that.
Mark
Mark "Bubba Gump" Greenberg (Keys, Vocals, Harmonica) Mark's musical career started many years ago in a band called the "Originals" but his parents forced him to quit the band and go to college to become a teacher. After deciding that he wasn't "University" material, he got a day job in a habadasherie selling hats and shoes and then reformed his band, the "Originals", into a new band named the "New Originals". He has since moved on from his days in the habadasherie but still pays homage to the patron saint of quality footwear "St. Hubbins" and to the day always wears a hat on stage.
New Bass Player!!
Walter
Walter "D Smalls" Edwards (Bass, Vocals) is the newest member of Free Lance, replacing Rob as the bands Bass Player. Walters musical talent is welcomed by the group as he also plays Keys, Drums and guitar and he has great vocal ability as well. Look for his signature "Joe Cocker" Vocals at our next show. As a new member to the band, Walter see's Free Lance as a group of poets you know like Shelley or Byron, or people like that and with totally distinct types of visionaries, it's like fire and ice, basically, you see and I feel my role in the band, is to be kind of in the middle of that, kind of like lukewarm water, in a sense.

I think we should have a Jeager-Meister rehearsal. In order to get the "true effect", some of the lovely gals from LPYC would have to be in attendance of course. How about Saturday Night, at the Embassy Suites ?
I have a question. I believe that Marko is my real father, because my knobs all go to 100 -- they have since I was born. Will he submit to paternity testing, or at least send a half-bottle of Jaeger?
Free Lance will be appearing at the Lake Point Yacht Club This Saturday 12-13-08 for One night only
Lance is trying to get paroled for the Holiday Season And he needs your help!
A small donation is all he needs to get a 2 week Leave for the Holidays.
Just think purchasing 3-4 beers and a few Jaeger Bombs, oh and maybe some Jack and some Tequila and another Jaeger bomb with a beer chaser
Could be enough to get Lance Free ( or at least get him drunk )
Give Lance a chance at freedom for the Holidays!
New singer “J T” will be joining the Free Lance Project on New Year’s Eve (as soon as he finishes a small 30 day sentence at the Macomb County Correctional Facility for his role in the “great pimento caper”.) Joe “allegedly” removed all the “Little Guys” from the green olives that were being served backstage at a recent Kid Rock concert
Kid Rocks performance was not affected, as he is a professional.
Jager is the Bomb. Thanks for the drink (hic...) Next time, should I go Tequila, or a Red Headed Slut - < Jeager & Cranberry Juice > --> yum . Peace & rock n' roll.
Well the 08-09 "West Detroit Tour" started out great. Lake Pointe was packed with many of our friends, Kim & Bud, Renee, Scott V, Jim, Jeff & Kim (Cherry Chapstick), Mike & Cherry, Jerry & Jill, Jeff, Mark, Jim & Jan, Todd, Karen & Stacey, Little Head, Alayne & Eric, Paul & Sharon, Brad, Darryl & Laurie, Annie Oakley & friends. Free Lance also wants to thank the singers that came up, even though we had a few sound issues they were professionals and did a great job. Joe Driver rocked out Soul Man, Jenny & No Matter what on Friday, Mike Navigato Jammed Road House Blues, Some kind of Wonderful and Wonderful Tonight. A special thanks to Mike Belanger (Sgt. Rock)who was there both Friday and Saturday helping us out with the lead vocals. Free Lance added a new sound this weekend as Mark Greenberg blew out the Harp on Road House and Runanway, thanks to Mark also for a great job on lead vocals as well. As you may (or may not) know, Ed "G#" Coury and Scott Corso are moving on to new and exciting solo ventures. Ed was an original member of the group (formerly the "Lovely Lads") and has moved on to a jazz/blues project. Scott was with the band for the last 2 years and was last seen performing a raggae version of Heartbreak Hotel at a Holiday Inn in Des Moines. (Before the puppet show). Both Ed & Scott will be missed and Free Lance wishes them well in their new projects. That all for now,
