The Free Noise Project started in December 2004. Originally I planned to do this once a month for one year, but it's been so much fun that I decided to give it another year. We will have (at least) 10 - 12 FNPs in 2006...
This is how it works:
People who want to play in the FNP must contact me via email at freenoiseproject@mac.com ...
Players show up at the Elbow Room on the night of the FNP at 9:45 pm.
Players are semi-randomly mixed up into several "groups" of players.
Each "group" gets about 25 minutes to jam, make noise, whatever...
Players should expect the following:
To play with people you may not know (or like).
To have a good time.
Players should NOT expect the following:
To choose who they play with.
To choose when they play (although that is fairly flexible on a need-based system).
To play their own "songs".
To sing. Sorry, but this is an instrumental experiment... there are plenty of "open mics" around for those who need to sing.
People who attend should expect:
To get in for FREE.
To hear some completely improvisational sounds.
To have a good time.
People who attend should NOT expect:
To hear awesome covers of their favorite Def Leppard songs.
PEACE and NOISE.
