“Freeplay” is a synth-based electro dance/chill outfit formed in Adelaide by James Muecke in 2005. James has always had a strong interest in music but only started composing two years ago. James has the unfortunate habit of waking early, about the time most clubbers are heading home to bed! To keep himself amused in the early hours, James bought a keyboard and synthesiser, opened the instruction manuals, and started making music!
Having survived a few decades of music styles, James’s tastes and influences are broad but he has always retained a strong love of pure dance music. Freeplay’s music is hard to categorise and could best be considered a hybrid of styles, but ultimately with a warm dance feel. Delirium, Balligomingo, Telepopmusik, and Kaskade come to mind.
Freeplay’s first single, “Without You”, was included on the fabulous “Localised” CD compiled by Luke Lombe and launched in March 2007. Freeplay was 'Artist of the Week' on Australia's premier dance music radio station, FreshFM, in April 2007. Freeplay's second single "Your Own Way" was selected for the "Fresh Air" CD.
As yet unsigned, Freeplay are busily working on a CD that will be released in early 2009. A few songs from the CD are now available to download from a number of sites including itunes and e music.
