   About Free Range Pickin’
Theres a youthful energy bubbling up in Free Range Pickin and it smartly drives the music of this Minnesota band...a clever name for this band that does indeed range freely over the ever-widening bluegrass landscape. -Bluegrass Unlimited ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Minneapolis group aptly combines a reverence for sounds of the past with modern cheekiness and expert playing. The band's excellent bluegrass chops and sense of humor should appeal to both the Prairie Home Companion and groove-prone crowds. -The Onion

LOUDRAY

Just to let you know, LOUDRAY is still holding church on Thursdays.

We've been holding it down there for 10 months and as our 1 year anniversary of this residency approaches we are stepping up the revival.  For the past 8 months we've been joined by some of the finest musicians in town (Martin Devaney, Ric Lee, Glenn Hanson, Dave Babb, Jake Hyer, Kurt Froelich, Meg Ashling, Zach Gusa, Eric Larson, Jen Markey, Mother Banjo, Eliza Blue, Pete Bauer, just to name a few) but for the next 2 months, it's just going to be the classic LOUDRAY duo of Jon Stowell and Colin Anderson.  We will be digging deep into the back catalog of songs and bringing some new light through these old windows.

We have been doing these shows in the classic "unamplified" style as of late and look to continue that trend.

So, stop in for some fellowship and true acoustic music, and wash away the week with sweet, redeeming booze.

$2.75 select taps from 5-7pm!!!  Plenty of parking!!

Come on, isn't it time to slum it at the Dub!!

It is nigh upon never that I log into MySpace, but a facebook friend peripheral to the group said I should ask you: do you know anybody who'd want to pick some banjo Stanley style with us? A few of us are putting something casual together and are looking for such a picker. We are all of modest ability, so even a really earnest beginner would suffice.

HELP PUT THE STANLEY BROTHERS IN THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME!

Ralph Stanley has received many well-deserved honors in the last few years, yet one honor eludes him. While many of their fellow musicians and singers have been recognized by The Country Music Hall of Fame, THE STANLEY BROTHERS have been sadly -- some say criminally -- overlooked.

Jeanie Stanley, youngest daugher of Carter, and fan Kaye Hill have organized an on-going petition to change all that.

"The Country Music Hall of Fame recognizes those persons who have made a significant contribution to the country music field," says Hill. "The Stanley Brothers helped lay the foundation for what we have today. Their names deserve to be listed among greats like Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, who have already be recognized."

You can join their efforts in one of the following ways:

Contact the CMHoF directly:

Mr. Kyle Young, President
Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum
222 Fifth Avenue South
Nashville TN 37203

Or, if you prefer, you can send a letter to Kaye Hill, who will forward them to the HoF.

D. Kaye Hill
PO Box 2553
Harrisonsonburg VA 22801

Kay says, "a simple one-line note is all that would be required, but please remember to supply your name and address, and an email address if applicable. I will be collecting all letters and forwarding them to the Country Music Hall of Fame."

"Don't you think it's time?"
