Raising my kids right, accomplishing SOMETHING significant in my professional life, ..(Although, I did just have my first research abstract published. Maybe I'm on my way--as long as I don't get pregnant again :) HA HA, VERY FUNNY...Did I mention I'm a comedian at the local improv show? (just kidding...more comedic genius...So-- Am I kidding or am I serious??? Yeah, in my spare time) Can you tell I drink A LOT of coffee? Best and last interest: Holding my husband's hand when we are eighty ... ninety? Dare I hope for a century ?!? :) That'd be nice, an oxygen tank built for two, how romantic...
Most anything...especially if it's live! I 'stream' NPR's "Destination Jazz, the Ed Love program" Attended the Bon Jovi concert last week- Phenominal fun!!..What a great "Memory"!! Our boys are STILL sad we left 'em home...Maybe next tour ;) I recently found a genra I do not like, Techno! Blah!
Movies
"No Country" was an excellent piece of work, for all involved...but disturbing-I'm still disturbed...I'm getting old...More current favs have been THE FALL...Ohhhh, I LOVE this cinematic evidence of genius! Deano and I have been making a bit of a habit out of visiting the local art theater (and neighboring sushi place-YUM) So have truly enjoyed Slumdog, Buck Howard, Mongol...Ok, not much of a habit, come'on we have three kids-babysitters are a fortune!! I escape from time to time for some cinema-therapy and most recently went on a 'blind' date (no idea what the movie was before watching) with myself, seeing 'The Uninvited'...I enjoyed it! Shared the theatre with a lot of teenagers, but that's ok...
Television
When I watch TV, I'm a PBS addict, This Old House, Antiques Roadshow and (when it was on, Posh Nosh) are favs among the classics, Nova and Masterpiece Theatre.
Books
I've only had time to read parenting or professional books in the last seven years... Anyone want to talk Hematology or Breastfeeding?
Heroes
Mother Theresa, Ed Abbey, Yoda and my husband - Who is the adult when I'm not and will be the reason our kids succeed in life (God willing)...Thanks for keeping me out of a cardboard box, honey. :)...These songs make me think of Deano...
There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension. One of these days is Yesterday with all its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone forever. The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow with all its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and its poor performance; Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow's sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds, but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet to be born. This leaves only one day, Today. Any person can fight the battle of just one day. It is when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's Yesterday and Tomorrow that we break down.
It is not the experience of Today that drives a person mad, it is the remorse or bitterness of something which happened Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring.
I am back again after a few days, so please forgive me if I have missed any blogs etc. I might have the following epitaph on my tombstone (not for a long time though !!) : "TRIED EVERYTHING TWICE. LOVED IT BOTH TIMES." latest poem on my blog is ICE COLD KISSES - thanks to all my readers ! Pictures are from the City of Chester, England. have a great weekend. peter
