The Freestyle Junkies (originally The Freestyle Vinyl Junkies) came about in the Spring of 1997 when 2 old school friends, Chris and Dave, unleashed their open minded approach to dance music on the unsuspecting clubbing masses of Reading.
"Anything Goes" was born from the gap left by Check Point Charlie, in Reading's Alleycat Live night club (now sadly gone).
"Anything Goes" was an open minded night of dance music mixing various genres from the newly bubbling Speed Garage scene, the ever growing Big Beat movement and the best of House, Garage, Trance, Techno and Drum 'n' Bass in one big melting pot of big tunes and happy party people.
Quickly "Anything Goes" gained a solid following and, within a few weeks of launching, was getting sold out crowds each week.
University came calling and "Anything Goes" was put on hiatus until the following summer, unfortunately by this point the clubbing scene of Reading hit a low and Alleycat Live closed. Most of the other clubs in Reading were pop-clubs and the only venue that could be found was Sundays in the Purple Turtle, "Xpression Sessions" was born concentrating on more of a 'Big Beat'-esq vibe where anything could be played as long as it had the feel good vibe.
During this residency Chris and Dave started to develop their skill at live mash ups and working with more then just the "Standard" 2 decks (6 being the most used in one session).
During the time at University (Chris - Southampton, Dave - Bristol) there were a number of exclusive Freestyle Junkies DJ sets held in both cities including the infamous Southampton University ball gigs which ended with the dancefloor jammed full of party people getting down to everything from "House Of Pain" and "Blur" to "Underworld" and "Mickey Finn & Aphrodite".
The funniest thing, at one of the events was Dave Lee Travis being miffed that the Freestyle Junkies' room had more people in it then he had in his :)
Subsequent years have seen Chris and Dave develop their individual DJing talents as well as producing music.

Who I'd like to meet: Open minded party people, like minded DJs and anyone with a smile :)

Ahoy there matey. There's a new Outlaws mix CD out, you could hunt down a copy in the real world, in shops and stuff, but let's face it, you'll probably download it from the internet anyway! So to save you the trouble of Googling it, here's a picture of the cover and a link to it:
Here's a mix that's been out in the real world but not on Myspace. You might enjoy it, you might not, who knows? It's pretty fun and it's got rave noises on it so why not give it a go? Give the pretty picture a little click and it should come to you. GO ON. PEER PRESSURE. DOUBLE DROP IT. GO ON.
Kill the fatted calf, come down from the mountain, have a special glass of rave juice and be happy. After (literally) years of wait / laziness, there's finally a new Outlaws mix. It's called WE WON'T STOP PARTYING FOR ANYONE.
Watch yer bass bins I'm telling ya, there some serious "stuff" on here. 53 tracks of it!
Click on the cover art to download the little beasty.
