Free Tallinn Trio is a unique combination of a singer with unusually wide voice range Anne-Liis Poll, a classically trained piano virtuoso Anto Pett, who has been concentrated on free improvisation during last 20 years, and a jazz guitarist Jaak Sooäär, who is one of the most well-known jazz musicians of the Baltics.
The freely improvised music of Free Tallinn Trio could be described as contemporary impro chamber opera, but the main influences are simultaneously contemporary music and modern jazz improvisation. The different backgrounds of its members lead the trio to unexpected adventurous territories and help to avoid typical cliches of free improvisation.
Free Tallinn Trio was established in 2006 and has so far performed in Austria, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, Germany (Moers Festival), Finland and Estonia. The debut CD “Full Moon” (AVA Muusika) was released in April 2007.
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that my new album Afrikan Machinery is out now on Tzadik Records. Check out some of the tracks on my profile! You can buy the CD here, here, or here. It's also available on iTunes.
Best Wishes, Lukas Ligeti
I've just uploaded a new track recorded just some weeks ago when UK percussionist Patrick Farmer visited my place. Unfortunately, most of the recording was spoiled by technical screw-ups, but these 3 minutes could be saved.
