   Freethinkers of UTA's Blurbs
About me:
Freethinkers of UTA is a group where atheists, agnostics, skeptics, humanists, freethinkers, and anyone who promotes science and reason can come together.

We are a new student organization on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington. We hold meetings every other Tuesday during the semester. Meetings usually have a discussion topic that is decided .. the meeting. We encourage open dialogue on issues such as: Evolution vs. Intelligent Design, the Secular Roots of the American Founding, Church/State Separation, Secular vs. Religious Ethics, the effect of Religion on Society, and much more.

Our purpose is:

- To establish a positive social environment for UTA students who consider themselves atheists, agnostics, skeptics, rationalists, humanists, and/or freethinkers.

- To enrich the UTA campus life by sponsoring educational events and fostering student dialogue on matters of faith, science, and reason.

- To engage UTA students in issues of national and international importance surrounding freedom of conscience and secular education.

Dear friends,

I would like to share with you why I love myspace. I share my ideas in my blog about Darfur and I have had the fortune of meeting Indirect Democracy. My essay on Darfur is read on this wonderful Podcast. Please visit the website and go to Podcast #26:

http://www.indirectdemocracy.podomatic.com/

and their myspace page

http://www.myspace.com/indirectdemocracy

Thank you and I hope we can work together on stopping the injustice in Darfur.

Maria

a synopsis on the podcast:

Darfur and Immigration -

After a long, and unexpected delay, Indirect Democracy is back. On this Podcast, I will cover a personal story involving a friend’s final step towards citizenship. It is important to remember all the people who come here to work and struggle to attain the American dream and be part of our collective experience as a nation. Sharing that moment with her is something I will not soon forget.

I received an essay regarding Darfur that I am proud to share. It coincides with the Global Day for Darfur that passed on April 29. The writer, named Maria Halyna, runs a website dedicated to educating us all about the tragedy of Darfur – tragedy seems like such a small word when you consider this living horror. I encourage you to visit her site and learn more: http://blog.myspace.com/mariahalynal

The music from this Podcast is entitled, “Still Waiting,” by the Greyboy Allstars. You can find their music at: www.greyboyallstars.com

As well, there is the Global Warming Update, the President’s Love Horoscope, a word from a new sponsor AND, as always, the What a Weinie Award.

Thanks for listening.

I've thought about doing something like that. Not to go in and cause trouble or anything, but to go and experience the different religions.
