Where Have all the Students Gone? Why are college students not protesting the war in Iraq as they did during Vietnam? My friend began asking that question when making this video of a candlelight vigil held on the eve of the war’s fifth anniversary.
The Florida House of Representatives passed a bill this week that will require schools to teach "critical analysis" of evolution.
On Tuesday Michigan introduced a similar "academic freedom" bill. Louisiana, Alabama and Missouri also have legislation under debate, although no state has adopted a law yet.
This is a 2 hour video that I think your members will be interested in. Lots on the history of religion, power, money, science, and philosophy. Very good stuff. Maybe even worth watching for one of your movie nights???
Unfortunately I had to move away from Grand Rapids a couple of months ago to finish up school, but I still strongly support the Center For Inquiry. You folks are doing a great job in the Grand Rapids area!
For the last 6 days there has been a Lansing State Journal photo diary of the delivery, erection & dedication of this years "Christmas Tree" in front of the Michigan State Capitol. Can you imagine that not one letter has been posted in protest against this. Should we care about this seemingly lil injustice in these global days of woe? I think it sucks and i'll be writing a letter to the LSJ to say so, but what a shame that they (who is "they" in this case...the Guv?) sneak this in under our publics apathetic radar. How difficult would it be to be all inclusive and call it a Holiday Tree? Do we really have no rights in this matter? AD Medina Lansing
Why is it that many people will believe in something that has never been seen, such as "God", but it is ABSOLUTLEY worng in many people's eyes today to believe in marijuana use?
