I choose to be a Humanist, a Unitarian Universalist, Zen Buddhist, Tantric/ Yoga practitioner and Pantheist and supporter of women rights and civil/gay rights and I reflect and promote those in my poems and songs. I choose not to be bogged down by ancient dogmas and falsified doctrines. There is no mention of god or gods in the constitution; Freud once said that religion was comparable to a childhood neurosis. Influences
Whomever I said that I sound like, plus throw in a little George Carlin, Kate Bush, Pearl Jam, Portishead, Tori Amos & a little Micheal Franti/Spearhead and we may be getting somewhere..... I rarely listen to hip hop nowadays, and no pop r&b or formatted radio rap at all. These sell-out gangsta rappers and money hungry soul singers took this artform and flushed it down the toilet, though I believe it might be "resurrected" one day (I use that term lightly!). If and when I do listen to rap music, it's MF DOOM, Danger Doom or anything Danger Mouse related (Knarls Barkley) talib kwali, Mos Def, my fellow atheist/ humanist underground rappers (i.e. myspace) and STILL De La Soul. I'm much older and wiser now, I need music that makes you think and can change the world - LIKE MINE!! ...... .............. .............. ......
