The core of the backbeats - two musicians with years of experience on the road and in the studio.
Jody Worrell is a guitar player extraordinaire. Jody has played with many artists from Atlanta to Montreaux- including Francine Reed, William Bell, the group Atlanta, Trudy Lynn, Vernon Garrett, Dicky Williams . He is a sought after player and teacher. Recording experience- sea saint (New Orleans), Axis (GA),Lafevre(GA),soundscape(GA), Kala, CMO,Southern Trax, Whipporwill (GA),Doppler,Reel-to-Reel, and dozens more.
Vallery has been singing in the southern regions for over 36 years. She has played venues from rock to blues and has recorded with notable musiicans including Francine Reed, Oscar Tony jr., Henry Parilla, and Kodak Harrison to name a few. Live performances were with bands that hit the road hard in the 70's and 80's (remember the philosophy of "paying dues" ?) - Phil 'n the Blanks (Athens, GA) Zany Murphy (AL), Sterling(AL), Ron Kimble Band(Atlanta GA), just to spot a few. Recording in the studio - southern Trax, John Keane studios, CMO, TRee, Muscle Shoals, Soundscape(GA),Reel-to-Reel, and many more.
Rock and Roll and blues are the top influences for the backbeats. Americana has a special place in our hearts as country is no longer the story of America and American music. (referring to the new "pop country").
Thanks to the storytellers like Lucinda Williams and Kevin Gordon to keep a tradition going strong.
This space in still a work in progress. Check back for updates!
