Frequency Activism is a CT/NY political hip-hop/soul/funk/jazz group consisting of vocalists Hired Gun (also of 3rd Party), PaintDragon (flute and saxaphone), and Stat, d.j./vocalist Mista Mayday, The Specialist on drums, bassist Jon Caruso, Harmonica player Paul Robertson and guitarist Matt Turcotte. In other words, a full funk band with emcees trading off with a jazz vocalist with dense, politically charged lyrics layered with a dj. Yeah.
Check for their first album, Hip Hop in Strange Places, in addition to solo albums and other projects by these artists.

Hired Gun, NJ born / BK residing emcee, has performed all over the country, from small clubs to large music festivals, and recently completed a 3 year run of a regular set at the Bowery Poetry Club in NYC. He has headlined the NorthEast Kingdom Music Festival alongside the Coup and Fishbone, and performed on the same stage as many hip hop luminaries. He is a member of the ESP crew, founder of Free Radicalz music, and co-founder of Say Word Entertainment. Though already several albums deep, including an album that recieved 4 stars in Urb magazine, he is readying to release his first solo albu, "The People's Verses".

PaintDragon is an artist/jazz vocalist from CT who has played all over New England with various jazz bands. Also proficient on saxaphone and flute, she is well known throughout the music/poetry/art community in southern New England.

Mista Mayday is a well known activist/musician from CT. He is secretary of the CT socialist party, a former member of the Demigodz crew, founding member of the ESP crew and former co-host of WHUS's Boombox from the Boondocks, the legendary hip hop college radio show co-hosted by rapper Apathy. Mista Mayday has released many albums and mixtapes working with artists ranging from hip hop to the well recieved collaboration with New London, CT bluegrassers the Can Kickers.

Stat is the former front man of the Subterranean Beet Cooperative. A guitarist and emcee, he has performed all across the country, from NY to CA. His solo efforts have involved collaborations with producers all over the US and Europe.

Would you give 1 click to end the war?

Mar 2 2008 3:24 PM

Thanks for becoming a freind of this pro-peace petition.

Would you give 1 click to end the war? myspace?

I want to personally thank you for your interest in promoting peace. With the President and Congress having a collective approval rating of 25%, we need to do something.

Would you help letting others no that we can stop the war with a petition to ammend the constitution; and that we can do it from the comfort of our computers?

This first link goes to a place for information on a petition to end the war,

If you would like to stop the war, send a friend request and sign the petition, here is a link.

LINK TO PETITON ON CARE2, YOU CAN HAVE YOUR NAME DISPLAY ANNONOMOUS

There is short explanation on you Tube, the same video is on Myspace.

LINK TO VIDEO ON U-TUBE, SAME VIDEO IS ON THIS PROFILE

Could there be a more direct form of democracy?

If every person tells everyone they know, and they tell everyone they know, and it continues before we know it we will have enough signatures to submit.

If you can recommend any resources that I should post this on please let me know.

We can end the war, we can do it for free, we can do it from the comfort of our living rooms. There were 500,000 people at Woodstock protesting the war. That was then. We can convene an unlimited number of people right now over the internet.

Heck, just look at how many myspace profiles there are, 170 million or so? 70% of America is on-line, 50% at home, the rest at some other location. Technically because of free public libraries EVERY American now has access to the internet.

It can be done. This is our right, lets enact it!

AN EVENING OF SOLIDARITY.

Friday, January 11th 2008
1199 King-Davis Center
77 Huyshope Avenue, Hartford
5:30 PM Doors Open
6:00 PM Dinner Served

New York City's food industry, from the warehouses to the restaurants, are
notorious for their sweatshop-like conditions. Sub-minimum wages, extremely
long hours without overtime, and abusive, openly racist employers are
all-too-common.

But the IWW Food and Allied Workers Industrial Union has been waging a
campaign to build power in these shops, force employers to obey labor laws,
and create a dignified work environment for this mainly immigrant, largely
undocumented workforce. In response, management has fired organizers, locked
workers out and black-listed them from the industry. And despite the
ever-present threat of deportation, the campaign has spread to a dozen shops
around the city, with nearly a hundred members and industry-wide influence.
Many fired workers have been re-hired, won back-pay, raises, overtime and
humane hours.

But the union is at a critical point in its campaign, and its members are in
dire need of financial assistance. Please come show your support, learn more
about this struggle, and enjoy an evening of food, music and solidarity. The
program will include rank and file workers and organizers speaking about
this struggle and live music with:
