Frequency was born in 2006, when
Alex R, Hodge, MC Finchy and MC Azzy got together to record a mix to upload for
free online. The recording session was streamed live over the internet,
and with huge anticipation, the mix was uploaded to various forums (and
downloaded by thousands!!). The first Frequency session proved so
successful, that it was decided it would become a regular thing, and the series
was born.
The line-up has had some
additions and subtractions since the first volume. Joining the original
four, was John Neal, Drakey, Ady Zee, Neeko, Sniper and Walshy. There have
also been some guests joining in the fun, such as Rob Cain, Wiggy, Zak K, MC
Race and MC G.
After a recording several
volumes, the Frequency name was becoming more popular by the day, this, together
with the blow of losing our DJ work at Medicine, led to the concept of Frequency
Events.
The venue for the first event,
was the now legendary Fubar club in Southport, on Friday 23rd June 2006.
No flyers were printed for this night, and an eflyer designed by John was posted
on the internet with only a week to go before the date, however, the night
itself was packed! We had a few teething problems with the soundsystem etc
(as you do with new venues), but the night was still a huge success, with people
travelling from all over the north west to be there.
Frequency @ Fubar became a
monthly event, and each month would see hundreds of clubbers from all over the
North West and beyond, descend on Southport to experience what we think was the
best atmosphere in the Bounce scene at the time! Special guests at Fubar
included Ultrabeat, Rob Cain, Ian Redman, DJ Wiggy and Pete Daley, plus MCs B,
Race, Efeeze and many more!
The success at Fubar led to our
bi-monthly events held at Klub DNA, and once again they proved what a pull the
Frequency name is, with packed out nights the norm!
We have held nights at venues
across the North West, Wales and Cumbria at venues such as Maximes, Peppers,
Pada Lounge, Martinis, Club Isis and Park Hall (our best being Park Hall New
Years Eve 07/08!!!), and have now landed a guest spot at Wigan Pier every other
month! Not bad eh!
Thorughout 2007, we lost some
members, including Azzy, Ady Zee, Drakey, Sniper and Walshy, who have been
replaced with DJ Greenie (Bad Behaviour), MC Roach, MC Race and MC B
(Liverpool).
