Fresh Arts Coalition is a not-for-profit organization that serves as an advocate for audience development and collaboration for Houston’s small and mid-size arts groups, encompassing 25 organizations as current members. For years, many of Houston's smaller arts organizations have demonstrated a significant need for centralized marketing efforts to more efficiently utilize resources as a group.

Building a Creative Class in Houston: We began FAC by asking the question: “What can we do to help the small and medium sized arts organizations in Houston?” This original premise continues to be the driving force for our work. FAC is a strong advocate for its members and for all arts in Houston. We believe strongly in the critical role played by the creation of new and original art in Houston, and the importance of attracting audiences for that art. In the same breath as we invoke New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle for their unique offerings, we realize that a vibrant arts scene is a large part of what makes Houston a world-class city.
FAC aids in marketing and audience development by heightening awareness of the member organizations, facilitating audience interchange and creating newsletter e-mails and a web site promoting the members' activities. FAC acts as a conduit to a significant number of governmental groups, foundations, corporations and individuals to increase visibility and awareness of this important group of cultural entities.
FAC also creates a forum for members of both visual and performing arts groups to exchange collaborative ideas on performances and exhibitions, promoting crossover activities between the members through meetings, sharing of calendars and facilitation of communication in general. FAC hosts special events to promote networking and attendance at arts events as well as visits member events to promote awareness of the group and audience sharing.
