It's a search for that balance between mainstream and the less publicized, often amazing sound of independent music. None of them seem to care about following musical rules that have been laid down and broken for years. Set a path for yourself and only follow others to dodge their mistakes. You can call it rock, you can call it blues, call it funk, maybe jazz or jam band, possibly pop or classic rock. All that's known is they make an alternative to today's bland radio billboard bullshit. This is Friars Point's world. If you want something unique...just listen.
There is a musical dynamic between all four members that is rarely seen in current rock bands. They all have the ability to play off of each other with ease to form one coherent jam! The passion and attack of rock with the touch of a jazz musician is a staple of this band. All four members have something amazingly unique to add to the mix.
Led by the blues/rock inspired guitar work and gruff Joe Cocker-ish vocal style of singer/songwriter Sean Gibson, this group sets themselves apart by adding the frenetic bop inspired sax lines of Eastwood over the tasteful percussion of Dustin Williams. Adding Jordan Stewart on guitar and bass fills out the group with sonic textures of feedback lead accompaniment and tight rhythms.
With the recording of the group's first indie EP "Friars Point", they have demonstrated how they can mix blues, jazz, funk, rock and pop to create an exciting venture into new musical territory. With this recording and through various touring they invite you to come along on this journey.

What are other people saying about Friars Point?:
'Friars Point is one of the best unknown bands I have ever heard. I had the pleasure of hearing them last year and was just blown away by their singer/guitarist Sean Gibson. This kid is going places if he wants to. He can play Hendrix and SRV like its nothing. If you like blues rock with a kick ass guitar player then check out Friars Point. No seriously check them out'

Muddy Waters claims he saw Johnson playing in front of Hirsberg's Drugstore in Friars Point. Muddy Waters was so intimidated by Johnson's skill that he couldn't bear to remain around.
