Recalling the glory days of bands like The Get Up Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate and The Juliana Theory, Friday Never Counts has tapped into the same vein as their much-acclaimed predecessors. An incredible mix of three guitars, something rarely found in their genre, paves the way for a barrage of dual vocal harmonies and a rhythm section that never quits. Fans that feel the original heart and drive of the old emotional rock scene passed long ago are quickly being brought back to the time when music like this reached them via house shows and mix-tapes.
Luckily for FNC, some things have changed since the old days. After only two months together, FNC was chosen to play in the Regional Carolina Youth Commission’s Battle of the Bands and The National Big Top Music Showcase and later went on to win the second place prize out of 300 bands in the East Coast National Showcase in December of 2006.
Since then they have steadily gained thousands of fans from across the globe and were quickly picked up by North Carolina’s Taken Records in 2006, just a year after becoming a band. Steadily playing hundreds of shows, FNC has shared the stage with both regional and national acts like Showbread, Sullivan, and Classic Case confirming that music fans everywhere are paying close attention to this band’s ever growing popularity and success.
Friday Never Counts hasn’t stopped moving forward since releasing their self-titled EP in the winter of 2006. Having already finished recording their first full length, titled “They Are All Watching” produced by Tyler Orr (As Cities Burn, Rookie of the Year, etc.) and Matt Goldman (Underoath, Cartel, Copeland, etc.), 2007 has been dedicated to touring harder than ever before in support of their upcoming CD release date.
With their careers in the industry moving along at warp speed, Friday Never Counts has somehow managed to turn back time and answer the prayers of countless old and new fans of the genre alike. Many bands have been called “The Next Big Thing” but Friday Never Counts crossed the finish line while everyone else was still listening to the gunshot.
