They number 5. They live and hide upon old Merseyside. They are Friday's Ghost.

Music they make and sounds they employ. Deep, huge, vast sounds; shrill, pleading, whining sounds. They use big, quiet noise and small, loud noise. All these they manipulate and maintain in order to bestow the Ghost with its form.

Guitars they have, and keyboards and synths, wine bottles and drums, and multiple voices. They use this plethora of merry-noise-making equipment to forge music via their basement. Did I mention the basement? The basement is good, the basement is sound.

They are young in years and old in days, poor of pocket, rich in enthusiasm.

So now you know about James, David, Joel, Alex and Tom. You know about their oft-mentioned basement, their musically-music and their predilection for good noise making. So listen, and know that all the world of Friday's Ghost is good. Because it is.

Influenceseverything.
Sounds Like

"Better than any of their contemporaries amongst their scene...a breath of fresh air in a scene that needs shaking up" - Gigwise

"It's during moments like title track, 'The Exhalation League', where Friday's Ghost really shine. Bombarding us with all the dark, brooding, synth-peppered artillery at their disposal, 'The Exhalation League' is a shoe-gazing statement of indie-intent to rival the current lager-swilling wideboy fraternity. - Sandman Magazine E.P. Review

"It's this band's sense of scale and depth that really sets them apart from the rest of the scene. Most of all it's the lead vocals that stand out. Shrill and whining yet strong they work brilliantly with the foreboding synths and chugging bass" - Rockfeedback.com E.P. Review

"The Liverpudlian five-piece have a dark, shoegazing sound, filled with great bass lines, funky electro-dance keyboards, and wailing vocals. The pick of this brooding bunch of songs would be 'Work Of The Invisible Hand'. Sounding like the lovechild of Bloc Party and an actual robot, it has infectious guitars, sinister vocals, and a methodical bass line that is as imposing as it is catchy." - This is Fake DIY - Best of Myspace

" A dark, industrial, clash - a complicated jigsaw that somehow fits together" - Live Magazine

"It all served to emphasise the different level which Friday’s Ghost are now working on. They looked a little out of place, even awkward bunched on the makeshift stage, behind a glitzy handrail in this neon paradise. Yet right away they stood head and shoulders above this evening’s competition, sounding every bit like the signed act that they are surely on the verge of becoming." - Whisperin' and Hollerin' live review

“The band show real invention using their angular sounds to cast long shadows deep into the night” Leeds Music Scene

" ‘Work of the Invisible Hand’ is a testament to the skill and songwriting attributes of this Liverpool band, as a fist in the air chorus line and a dark as hell bass riff keeps this dance floor anthem going strong...'Lucas' is sheer disco sludge ambience showcasing a band who know how to strip the fuck down yet keep a dance floor sweating." - Gigwise EP Review

"‘Lucas’ bounces lyrical polar opposites across an ambient intro and shifting pulse with shards of electronica responsible for deepening the paranoia. This is rock n’ roll with one hand in the medicine cabinet - strongly geared (one senses) towards a powerful live performance. - WhisperinandHollerin.com E.P. Review

"Good track, excellent band - Look out for them" - Roger Hill, BBC Radio Merseyside.

"Still sparking electrical discharge from their return from New York, Friday’s Ghost walked onto a stage greeted by a myriad of close friends and followers to get the party started with ‘Work Of The Invisible Hand’, a classic track sounding like a paranoid robot mating dance, oh yes it sounds like that! Hefty bass lines, haunting synth samples and a sonic assault that hits you like a dancing plague." - Gigwise Live Review

"I love this band...." - Sarah Darling XFM

"Dark, linear and haunting, Friday's Ghost lead a torch led procession through a fantastically derelict, nihilistic musical backdrop. A very promising EP, Friday's Ghost are depressingly good." - Another Late Night Demo Review

"A gig to be proud of, Friday’s Ghost showed that they were a band to be reckoned with, owning the stage from start to finish even with such a short set. Expect great things to come from this band." - Gigwise Live Review

"Friday's Ghost, that's a Nice name..." - Howard Marks

Thank you so so much for playing at the party of the year on Friday...hehe! It was great seeing you all, and even though all the sound check, who's bringing what instruments, etc was a bit of a mess (sorry!) you sounded great and the crowd loved you! So thank you, thank you and thank you again for bringing such funkiness to the music and simply for gracing us with your presence! Much love, Daisy x

FG,
With your new demos I reckon you’ve nailed it. You got rid of any elements that may have sounded a touch derivative and carved your own niche. By stacking vocal harmonies, cutting dark grooving bass lines, and constantly shifting dynamics, with everyone clearly on the same wave length, you create a sound which is unique. The minimalism and courage to propel yourselves with little more than vocals and synth at times, adds to the level of epic atmosphere when the drums and guitars kick back in or a when new melody comes into play. Your songs are rich, dark and complex and grow on me with each listen. Nice work gents, it’s surely only a matter of time until you break in to the public consciousness.
See you soon,
Simmo
