Fried Green Radio's Interests

General	music art people BIRMINGHAM!
Music	Some people (including myself) are working on starting a radio station here in Bham. It looks like we may have to START on the Internet ... and then work towards being ON-AIR (actual AM or FM). Our purpose: To promote Birmingham. It's music, arts, businesses and overall ... the people. Esp. those who don't feel like they are represented by what we have presently on-air. We want to promote local bands and regional. We want to work with locally owned and operated businesses. We want to promote shows for local artists. Right now - we have to start fund raising. We have been offered an "office space" to work from, but are working out of our home-base in Irondale. We've got a PO Box. We've got our mission statement and are working on our programming policy. The business proposal is not far behind, as is our application for non-profit status. We will be ON-AIR as of Jan. 1,2007. You can also find us on our website: www.friedgreenradio.com But we have to start fund raising. We need equipment! If you have microphones (for radio use), headphones (for radio use), a printer (up-to-date ... preferably with scanner, printer, copier options) ... We'd LOVE to talk business with you! We are starting the fundraising process with benefit shows. We're in the process of contacting bands and bars/venues. If you guys would be interested, PLEASE LET US KNOW! And if there are other bands that you think (or know) would also be interested in playing a benefit show - let us know their contact info (or have them contact us). Books	We have a SILENT ART AUCTION coming up at Bottletree in April. Of course, funding and visibility will remain challenges for the new station. It has proved difficult for grassroots groups to combine forces and make concerted efforts at changing the radio landscape.
