Sounds Like
Metally metal for metal heads...or something like that. Take one part sheer boredom and emotional what-have-you and mix it with a dash of rock and a splash of Djent Drank...and you get something like what you here.

Hey everybody, my name is Chris Purvis and I'm 24 ... welcome to my music page for my Friend for a Foe project I've been working on for the past six or so years! All the instrumentation, recording, and production is done by me ... I hope you enjoy it as I'm my own worst critic haha. I've been playing drums since I was thirteen and then moved on to guitar, bass, and piano shortly thereafter. I eventually started getting into production and sound engineering and what you hear now is the result of sheer dedication (and many hours of tedious editing).
Despite this solo approach of complete creative freedom, I've been in multiple bands in multiple countries from the U.K.'s Flatline to Maryland's Earthborn playing everything from guitar to drums supporting local acts and major-label bands. It's been an interesting ride throughout the years with (I hope) many more interesting times to come. I'm currently serving in the US Navy and am stationed in the Middle East ... in three years I'll be out and I plan on making this a full-time band!
Well that's all from me. I hope you enjoy the music and feel free to leave some comments or better yet: Spread the word ;-) Thanks for your time!
People Say Nice Things!
"Friend For A Foe's music is completely brutal and is some of the best stuff we've heard" - As The Kingdom Falls
"Friend for a Foe is a blend of metal, rock, and alternative with a very unique sound that makes you want to rock out because of its intricate riffs and well assembled bridges. Lyrics are not needed, for you can feel all the emotions through the music." -Michelle Ghahary, Music Analyst
"Love it. Intense..." -Katharsis
"Beauty coalesced with brutality. This is what metal is all about. Friend for a Foe delivers hard hitting riffs and melodic interludes, never repeating its assault. So abrasive you'll need to catch your breath." - (un)SAID

thx for the comment man! I found you throuhg the vildhjarta profile, checked it out and liked it right away. Pretty awesome stuff for a one man show. This is where i want to get with my stuff and i know it's countless hours of hard work and dedication. Now you need to go and find some guys to form a band and play live (this is almost the hardest part imho :-( And of course a decent singer ...
hey man, no problem your shit is awesome, i saw you comment on vildjharta's page and noticed you had an 8 string in your picture, so i checked your page

i grew up in bahrain for 13 yrs man... its not as bad as it seems so long as u got something to keep you active :) \m/
i recently just got Amplitube (metal and 2.0) using a lightnsake ..basicly winding my way into some production/recording.... ur info was uber helpfull @ http://www.soundclick.com/members/default.cfm?member=friendforafoe
Found you through the Mushroom Massacre page. I'm always browsing for artists in the 'region', but few are playing this style, what I simply like to label as intelligent & modern metal, this IS the future of metal, I'm hoping such grooves, layers, heaviness, will outlast the nonsense that's more popular these days...we cannot just write for the moment. Keep it up Chris, stay true, it's fuckin awesome knowing someone like you is doing this practically on their own. I'm spreading the word! If you're ever in Egypt, look me up. \.,/
that would be a wicked idea! even a free download would be wicked to help spread all the awesome music the community pumps out. i love your guitar tones dude! i still haven't gotten the grasp on the impulse thing, but i am using the free stuff. is there that much of a difference from the recabinet stuff?
