Our mission is to:
-- Increase awareness about global hunger issues
-- Mobilize support for hunger relief programs and activities
-- Generate resources for WFP operations and other activities that alleviate hunger
There are many ways to get involved with Friends of WFP. Simply raising awareness about the problem of world hunger is a great help in building support for the efforts of WFP and others to fight hunger. This might involve writing a letter to the editor or an opinion piece for your local newspaper, contacting your elected representatives and urging them to provide greater support for food aid, or just telling your friends and family about WFP and the work it does around the world to help the hungry. The more people who know about the problem of hunger in the world, the more support we can build to fight hunger.
Every year, WFP feeds an average of 90 million people, two-thirds of them children, in 80 countries. But the needs of the world’s hungry are greater than WFP’s resources. To continue and expand WFP’s work to feed the hungry, we need your help!
Your contribution, large or small, will make a difference. Help WFP feed the world’s hungry by making a tax-deductible contribution today.

Friends of WFP Chairman Randy Russell recently traveled to Kenya and Malawi, where he visited WFP school meals, HIV/AIDS and nutrition, and food-for-work programs. In a candid interview, Russell talks about his experience in the field and how WFP is making a difference in the lives of millions of people.
Friends of the World Food Program is dedicated to ending world hunger. We work in the United States to build support for the World Food Program (WFP) - the United Nations' lead humanitarian agency in the fight against global hunger. Our minds tell us we can end world hunger. Our hearts tell us we cannot wait. As Friends of WFP, we unite companies, foundations, and individuals committed to solving world hunger. Our education, advocacy, and fundraising efforts in the U.S. support WFP's lifesaving global food assistance and development programs.
Latest Development: WFP Responds to Conflict in Georgia
After conflict broke out in Georgia, WFP began delivering food to thousands of people who were forced to flee their homes. WFP is also providing logistical support to other humanitarian relief organizations that are active in the region. So far, 137,000 conflict victims have received WFP emergency food supplies, such as wheat flour, vegetable oil, beans, salt, sugar, and bread.
