Daphne's Interests
|
| General | My interests are multifarious and are displayed to some extent here. Why not ask me about them? But if you're shy, here are a few more: seashell fossils found on mountaintops, Japanese folklore, creepy carousels, lakeshores at night, thunderstorms, all insects everywhere and some arachnids, Jack Kirby for creating Scott Free and Big Barda, George Herriman for being magical, 19th century dictionaries for the word "fleshling", vintage Bollywood and its many moles, Japanese kobe charms from the twenties with their googly eyes, the odd dispute between J.M. Whistler and Oscar Wilde, anime/animation of all sorts, silent film, film noir, film-film-film, learning too many languages at once and trying to avoid the everpresent false cognate, the desert night sky, reading just about anything, haunting Canter's deli, Totoro and the marvelous soot sprites, book-binding and book arts, art-art-art, all music! (shall I type that three times for emphasis as well?), travel, photography, shoes that make me appear taller and bigger (like a poofy cat's tail), good coffee (sigh), finding a new apartment (trickier than it sounds). For some reason I've decided to collect old keys, especially for clocks. Perhaps I can learn to alter time. | | Music | Now playing: The Aller Værste, Arto Lindsay, As Mercenárias, Beirut, The Birthday Party, Black Devil, Black Future, Black Randy & The Metrosquad, Caetano Veloso, The Dance, Devo, Django Reinhardt, Dow Jones And The Industrials, Edu Lobo, Ex-Girl, The Fall, Fantômas, Fellini, Friction, The Furze, The Germs, Glory Fckn Sun, Iggy & the Stooges, Jacques Brel, James Chance & the Contortions, Keijo, Kim Carsons, Lata Mangeshkar, Lene Lovich, Letta Mbulu, The Lines, Lizzy Mercier Descloux, The Love Deniers, Lulu's Marble, Magical Power Mako, Mirrors, Mogollar, Moondog, Nath Family, Os Mutantes, Plastic Idols, Polysics, Public Image Ltd., Secret Chiefs 3, Serge Gainsbourg, Shoukichi Kina, Sleepers, The Sonics, Theoretical Girls, Tim Buckley, Tom Waits, Tom Zé, The Velvet Underground, X.
