Getting ready for prolonged trip to the UK....back in 2-6 months...give or take a forever. Out the door November 23rd - adieu, adieu, to you and you and you ^^Posted at 1:43 AM Oct 16view more
Exceptionally amateurish astronomy; amiably discussing art; saying I'm going to learn a bunch of languages, buying all the books and discs, then not; moving and traveling hither and yon; photography, again of a beginner's interest and knowledge level; architecture, which I know absolutely nothing about other than the terms "buttress" and "gingerbreading"; voraciously collecting music (the actual sounds, not the objects they're enclosed on/in); appreciating desert vistas; long walks and swimming (hell, this is starting to sound like a singles ad); going out for coffee because as of yet my will is not strong enough to quit it; attending film series and festivals, or having the film festival in my own house complete with popcorn and possibly wine; meeting new people who like any of the above, and/or other things as well.
Music
As of late, listening to a lot of various African music: South Africans Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba and Letta Mbulu, and a few Nigerian comps. The Ethiopiques comps. A Peruvian psych comp. Chinese chanteuses from the '20s. Edu Lobo, Caetano Veloso and Chico Buarque. The Achili Funk Gypsy Soul comp. French crooners from the '40s and '50s. Tuba rhythm jazz. Tuvan "punk" Yat-Kha. Akira Ikufube. Much Japanese GS. The Folk Crusaders. Lenny Bruce anth. Getting into rai. Sun Ra. Tuca.
Movies
Some examples: Destroy All Monsters, Behind Locked Doors, Three Resurrected Drunkards, When A Woman Ascends The Stairs, Elevator To The Gallows, Drunken Master, The Ladykillers, The Collector, The Good The Bad And The Ugly, Red Beard, Pitfall, Kung Fu Hustle, Hard Boiled, Paprika, Rushmore, Totoro.
.....and speaking of Totoro...
Television
I've fallen for True Blood, mainly because of Nelsan Ellis. The standards are Metalocalypse, Venture Bros., Dollhouse and Buffy. Most everything else, I could care less.

Your desert trip photos are amazing! Did I ever mention the US Southwest is my absolute favorite place to road trip (went on a 2-week trip there with Bari 4 years ago)?
The desert has a magical energy. ;)
