About me:

What is Fro-Disia about

Fro-Disia takes its inspiration from the club Dance Jazz/Jazzfunk scene in the UK. The music is for the dance floor, plain and simple. If your looking for  smooth jazz your in the ..very.. wrong place. The music is real Dance Jazz, Nu Jazz, Jazz-funk, Latin, Funk and uptempo  Jazzy  House. The jazz dance scene developed from the 70..s UK Jazz-Funk clubs (known as Jazz Fusion in the US). It was the imported US artists albums  that hit the spot, with their blending of  jazz with soul, funk, disco & boogie. Initially the music was  all imported and therefor rare  and expensive for the DJ..s and collectors.1 track played from an imported album was normal. This rarity helped lead  it to it..s underground status.Arttists such as Roy Ayers, Herbie Hancock, Azymuth, George Duke, Eddie Russ, Gil Scott Heron etc etc.You had to know your clubs and DJ..s if you wanted to be a part of this. Clubs grew in the UK larger city areas namely London and the North West. DJ..s became famous playing to packed massive dance floors. The music developed and the jazz got deeper. By the end of the Jazz-Funk period in the 80..s, the DJ..s had exposed clubs to more traditional artists and sounds. Heavy Brazillian batucadas (drum sambas), were heard along side artists such as Pharoah Sanders, Jon Lucien, Eddie Jefferson, Flora Purim etc. These influences led to a style of club dancing  peculair to the UK. Some took this style to acrobatic heights all before the days of  break dancing. This clubs style of music spread to underground clubs home and abroad especially in Japan where the American Jazz music influence had been strong for many years. Japanese artists had their own style which was also inported in to the UK and played through the 70..s & 80..s.

The music today is an eclectic mix of all the above and more. Modern artists from  the US, UK, Japan, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Norway etc all are contributing to the scene many under the banner of Nu Jazz, (a title hated by many but which sums up the modern jazz sound).Artists are using  modern recording techniques such as samples to produce new music. Retro Funk is also in the  mix as modern artists have returned to a more organic traditional sound. The result is  a heady mix of club culture dance music for those who can find no place in the banal over commercial music of today.

    hi Fro-Disa,

this just might be of interest
    for you and your work:

    Brandnew 7inch OUT NOW
    SERIOUS SOUL feat. John Turrell

This is a High Quality Recording from BUYÚ Records

this 7" comes in pure pristine white vinyl and is strictly limited to 400 copies! There will be NO digital release of these tracks until next album is coming out
Starting as an instrumental among all of the new thrilling demos from the forthcoming Bahama Soul Club's album, John Turrell from "Smoove&Turrell" was directly inspired by this track, adding his "from the heart" lyrics about collecting rare vinyl and vinyl junkies. A gospel flavoured and soul powered homage to those sought after, original 7's on a funky bahama bossa.

Immediately released just as it was sung on the first take, rawly arranged to save that genuine feel from John's first recorded ideas.

It's much more than an appetizer, it's really a gem, that you shouldn't miss!

    SHOPS:

    so enjoy the music

At times tryna find the perfect words to say... could leave you speechless... fighting to give your heart to someone who doesn't need it, Well...that could possibly leave anyone heartless... The saddest day of anyones life comes that day when they've had there heart shattered twice -Nide

    TeeCee,

Real nice to meet you. There is a small scene here in O-town for Jazzy grooves. I keep going, writing, scatting, practicing, because I love the music. I have a new tune called "Melange" I just wrote last night posted on MySpace. It's a blend House and Jazz, Would you say Deep House? I am writing lyrics to it right now.
Check it out, let me know what you think?
