The Rafters are us...Dave and Miki. We're married and started playing music together long after we met. It was seemingly a natural progression: meet in college, date for 7 years, get married (10 years and going...), buy a house, have kids, start a band, have more kids...
We love music. We still like CDs and the artwork more than MP3s and if albums were around that would be even better. We have gone to 100's of concerts together, from Barry Manilow to Lori McKenna, the Neighborhoods, to Bob Jovi, Ani, Wheat, U2, friends shows, and of course the Indigo Girls (70+ shows alone!)...We'd rather go to a concert than go to a movie or a game or dinner (Miki might dispute this last one)...
Our music is acoustic based pop-folk. The songs are snap shots into our lives or the people close to us. And no Beej that one depressing song is not about you, no worries.
We started playing in 2006 and have played a bunch of shows. A few really big ones (Nashua River Valley Folk Festival, Lancaster Coffeehouse, Lowell Folk Festival), a bunch of really small ones (but no less significant), and a whole lot in-between.
We released a CD in 2007 "The Rafters" and are working on a second (to be released summer of '09). We record our songs in the basement between the noise of the furnace, running water, and the kids...With our 3rd baby due in June, we will be playing more starting in the late summer. Let's connect.
Can't wait to see a pic! Give Miki and Carter (love that name!) a hug from me~and yes, I'd LOVE to see you guys here one day! (only 630+ miles but who's counting!) Miss you....take care of your beautiful family~
And yes Cloe, Irving came to Ohio with me and has a new back yard with lots of wild strawberries and he's getting chubby!! ;) He is very happy but misses all his old friends, including YOU!!! xo
LOL.. about your deli experience.. I'm not sure if I'm the person who got the comment from a week ago?? if it was something naughty, probably guilty as charged. otherwise I plead the fifth...
Awwww thanks Cloe, Irving made it to Cleveland just fine. He rode in the front seat of the car on his own bed on the floor and slept the whole time! He was a good boy for the long trip and now has a new yard with lots and lots of grass and all the dandelions he can eat! ;p And he can also climb stairs!
