Sounds Like
If we call ourselves a punk band, we're assholes. If we list a bunch of bands we sound like, we're limitiing our sound AND we're still assholes. If we put down something funny, we're assholes. So, you be the judge.
Front Royal was created in the wee hours of early 2007, right around the same time when Ohio University was having it's regularly scheduled Winter Quarter classes. Two students: Ryan Ford and Alex Eiler decided they needed a band in their lives that wasn't the usual "I listen to Radiohead and watch french films" indie scene that usually spawns in Athens. After purchasing an electric drumset and some countless hours of searching they found a third member to jam with. That person was a friend of Ford's by the name of Mike Petruccelli whom Ryan met earlier in the year. Petruccelli when asked to play was skeptical but soon joined onto the machine known as Front Royal's first 4 practices. When Spring quarter arrived they had managed to concoct a few songs, but still needed a bassist. Petruccelli knew of a friend who played that went by the name of Anthony Fantozzi. Fantozzi was known mainly for his funky jazz influenced syle of bass, but merged well with the trio after only one practice. Finally, when the band was an actual band the name Front Royal sufficed after a coins toss of a decision. Named after a town in the state of Virginia, the only explanation for the name can come down to one factor that supplied it's use: "It sounded cool."
But don't mistake this 4 piece melodic punk quartet as being the usual drone outs and "dudes" that today's punk scene has established. They take their music seriously and stress the one importance of writing punk music: It's about having fun.
To this day Front Royal has played only three shows. Due to Eiler's injuries in the 2007 fall quarter, the band was on a temporary hiatus. Now, they are planning to record and play as many shows as possible throughout the rest of the school year.
If you are interested in picking up/feeding/booking the finely polished, but yet elegantly disheveled act, then please email: FrontRoyalBand@gmail.com. They will play for free and/or for burritos.
