New album release date: 19th June 2009, Indigo is coming!
At long last the band can now confirm a date for the release of their new album, “Indigo”. It will be available from various outlets both digitally and as hard copy from 19 June 2009, just in time for the summer!
The Froods were blown away by the positive feedback received about their first offering “Psychonaut” and they’re still blown away by the many messages constantly received by those wanting more. It has taken over four years to move through the writing, recording, throwing away, trying again, sending to Ott for remixing, mastering (by Kevin Metcalfe) and releasing stages. After that seemingly endless journey they hope that those waiting for it are not disappointed.
The very few labels that the band really wanted to work with are either too busy or the Frood sound doesn’t fit the label genre, so they have decided to launch it under their own label “Megadodo Recordings”, with the help of Triskele Management. It will be available as digital download from the usual sites and as hard copy from Arabesque Distribution, Amazon, our own site and a few others, to be announced.
So, what’s it like? It’s very eclectic, covering a diverse range of musical styles and hints at a positive message and storyline. It’s very different from “Psychonaut” and is a vast improvement sonically thanks to lessons learned the first time around and the genius that is Ott. The band have always said that the music makes itself and this was certainly the case again with “Indigo”, so, expect something different but that hopefully is as organic, thought provoking and likeable as the last.

Musically, Frood is the result of a range of influences. It is not for the makers to decide on the style we simply serve the music and it makes itself, so we can only quote "Floyd crossed with Sphongle", "kind of like trippy folk music", "a unique multidimensional blend of psychedelic-folk and groovy-electro" and our favourite quote "we suspect the work of hippies".
The original ideas and concepts start with Rich and Steve who have been working on Floyd/Zep style projects since 2001 before discovering the versatilities of electronic recording and its masters such as OTT and Shpongle. Deep, mystical and psychedelic ideas provide the theme, then, once the story has been set, it is unleashed upon fellow froodsters Chris, Myshell and Frankie who help to give it life.
Our 1st offering "Psychonaut" was released with the help of our friends at Amboworld in 2004 and it has sold, albeit in a modest capacity, all over our fragile earth. Notable performances to date have been a support slot for Ozric Tentacles in Brighton in June 2005 and the Synergy Project at London's SeOne club, among other memorable evenings in the summer of 2005.
We have a message for those that wish to listen or simple tunes for those that don't. We believe in compassion, tolerance, and the importance of exploring the inner-self. "A great revolution of character in just one man will help achieve a change in the destiny of a nation and, further, will cause a change in the destiny of all mankind"it is with this thought that we take Frood on the next step in its evolution.
