Sounds Like
"Clever songwriting alongside rearranged classics--a throwback style that knows good, old-fashioned storytelling...yet is utterly unpretentious about modernity.”
—The Source, Bend OR.
After three years and 300 plus shows, Matt Sayles (co-founder of the upper-peninsula of Michigan band “Frostbitten Grass”) migrated to the High Desert of Central Oregon. Living in the Northwest while working a variety of odd jobs, Sayles met up and toured nationally from 2005-2006 with Texas progressive blues guitarist Francisco Mirabent. Sayles’ & Mirabent’s 2006 album “El heno de la Muerte” was the second departure from Sayles’ work with Frostbitten Grass, and the 7 song self-described “Albumette” featured an intriguing blend of progressive blues guitar and roots music fusion.
Back from his first national tour in late 2006 with Cisco Mirabent, Sayles settled
in Cadillac Michigan to work on his next Album in relative isolation--until the
winds once again blew westward in the Spring of 2007, and he landed in Susanville, CA with a half-finished album, and as he describes, “a really big backyard.”
In December of 2008, Sayles completed his most recent release on Philville Records "Wilson's Hotel," Which features the eclectic singer songwriter at his best, exploring a multitude of new instruments and thematic material that reflect his western travels and Michigan heritage.

Thanks for attending! Yes, a cover of "She's Only Seventeen" by Winger is definately in order with bagpipes and distortion or maybe a version of Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" on glockenspiel with flanger and lots of eyeliner.
