Interests

  • General

Noise, 33/45/78 rpm's, Chicano folklore, urban anthropology, atavism, origins, and the unknown. I ain't trying to sound deep, so come off it!
  • Music

I am music walking like a man! If I haven't heard it, I'm going to hear it soon. My heart, mind, body and soul stays on the blues and all of its by-products, though. Real Gospel is a big force in my life also.
  • Movies

American Me, Trailer Town, Chicago Blues (the Harley Cockliss documentary), Shawshank Redemption, Blood In Blood Out, Boulevard Nights, And This Is Free, UHF, anything by Troma, Nacho Libre, Cannibal Holocaust, It's A Wonderful Life, Fallen Angel: The Gram Parsons Story, Straight No Chaser, Swing Kids, Zoot Suit, 200 Motels, Wattstax, The Cry Of Jazz, all the Dolemite flicks, Dead Presidents, Cheech And Chong's complete works, The Magic Sun, There Will Be Blood, The Devil And Daniel Johnston
  • Television

Sanford And Son. I now am the proud owner of all 6 seasons on DVD. I like that show where they overdub crazy English dialogue over the Japanese game shows also. I love BET Comic View. I like Jerry Springer, yet on the flipside I can watch the History Channel all day too! Whoever says they despise TV just doesn't have cable....
  • Books

Yeah, I read, but it's more like magazines than books. I have subscriptions to Living Blues and Waxpoetics. Go figure. When I do read books, it can range from Donald Goines to various musician biographies to world history.
  • Heroes

The people that brought me into this world, the people who shaped me into what I am today, the people who helped and still help me to see a better tomorrow, and the people who will be by my side when I leave this temporary home. Most importantly, the man who's got my back no matter what- Jesus.

About me:

I'm an ex-Army Brat Bipolar Type 2 (and type 2 diabetic) Green Beaner with a penchant for wax and lots of it. I have a huge record collection. I am a musician. I am an artist. I used to like soda, but now that I've learned high fructose corn syrup is Satan in liquid form, I stick to water and the like. Some would say I've lived (and still live) a rough life, but I look ever heavenward and pray for a better day. I have an awesome family, awesome friends, and an extra-awesome woman by my side. I AM TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED! I may not be the most reverent, but God please protect me from the malevolent.

Who I'd like to meet:

The ones who fear not, other Green Beaners (Irish/Mexican descent), my many alter egos and doppelgangers, people who take the time out to read the small print, and the alienated.

Darrren guarantees this will be the best show at the
Jive in the past couple years.  Due to the high quality of the acts on
the bill, the cover is actually $7.

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff

    Hi. :]

I just wanted to let you know about the upcoming show in Puyallup.  It's next Friday (the 26th) at The Oasis Cafe (off of 176th), and I'd love for you to be there!  I'll be singing a variety of covers and originals, including the newest songs I've been working on.  If you need more information on this show or other upcoming shows, there's more information on my page. I hope you can make it. :]

Hey Obtus- err, Anthony. Yes, Anthony. That's who you are. I've got a Seattle show coming up at ToST Lounge on June 2nd at 8pm. If you're not doing anything you should come kick it. ALSO, my friend Kurt Lindsay (myspace.com/kurtlindsay) and I are playing a show at The Mocha Moo and he wants something a little less folky and more unique than us to close it out. We're gonna charge a $5 cover and we're gonna split the whole thing 3 ways (the venue takes nothing). I just thought I'd ask if you wanna play.
