The Amazing Frozen String Quartet is dedicated to the explosion of roots music through juxtaposition, unexpected arrangements and irreverence! We play an eclectic catalog of songs, taking cues from Americana, bluegrass, noise rock, and American popular song. We'll make you oohh and aaaahhh, laugh, cry, otherwise gesticulate, and generally enjoy yourself. Avi Fox-Rosen leads this foursome with Benjy Fox-Rosen on upright bass and kazoo, Myk Freedman on lap steel, and Joey Weisenberg on mandolin and harmonica. We prefer to play in intimate settings, like homes and rooms without amplification (except for Myk... he's an exception). Occasionally we play spots like Madison Square Garden, but only on the off nights.
