..Dave Evans - piano, ..Kenny Higgins, Colin Sutton, Barry Ricarby - bass, ..Alex Wibrew - drums, .. Fruit Tree provided one of the most exciting gigs of the season. Their music was innovative and refreshingly different. As musicians they illustrated talent, commitment and good humour. Looking forward to their return. .. ..Carole Eve Bell. Grove Inn Jazz Club Leeds .. I wasn't sure what to expect when Fruit Tree Project played at Seven recently. We were treated to Dave Evans (piano) own compositions supported by electric bass, drums and at times, Santoor. Whilst managing subtle shifts in mood, tempo changes, riffs and even exotic –sounding scales, Dave provides well fashioned melodies that stay with you after the gig. Expect sonorous bass solos from Mr. Kenny Higgins, driving percussion from Alex Wibrew and intricate solos from Dave Evans himself. Furthermore, the Project can really cross boundaries when they invite their guests along. On the occasion I saw them, they played an empathetic set with Kamaljeet Ajimal on santoor which demonstrated the breadth of the Project's exploratory dynamics. .. Fruit Tree Project are an exciting, contemporary, creative, accessible and innovative new band capable of exploring new terrain whilst, at the same time, taking audiences along with them! .. ..Seven Arts .. 'A sparkling debut ep from the fruit tree project' .. ..Jazz Yorkshire .. Led by the skilled and energetic Dave Evans they take on grooves and semi-free excitement equally to create a thrilling array of sounds. .. ..Wakefield Jazz .. "What an incredible band! So passionate, each piece full of emotion and verve, their distinctive style showing off the skills and musicianship of each member but never selfishly. Really, really Looking forward to the forthcoming EP" .. .. Anokha Arts Club .......... .. .. .. .. .. ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -
