PROUDLY ANOUNCES THE
DEBUT ALBUM BY THE FORTUNATE SONS
“Embodies the past and future of rock and roll”
Peter Jenner (former Pink Floyd manager)
This year’s most important Scottish album release by a new band will be the full UK unveiling of the eponymous debut album of THE FORTUNATE SONS. The band is set to breathe new life into the stagnant rock and roll scene with an album full of memorable songs, great players and one of this country’s best new vocal talents.
The Fortunate Sons are comprised of Sam West, Calum McCann, Mike Law and Cameron Maxwell. The band plays music which brings to mind sixties bands like The Rolling Stones and Creedence Clearwater Revival- from whom they took their name, but also have been compared to other contemporary bands like The Kings of Leon.
Some heavyweights of the music industry have been involved in the band’s first full length album, with the Sons being guided under the watchful eye of former Pink Floyd manager Pete Jenner who has said that the band “embodies the past and future of rock and roll”.
Also contributing was legendary LA producer/songwriter Kim Fowley (Nirvana/Cream/Led Zepplin) who describes the band as “A 21st Century Delta Blues Explosion”. His extensive production experience (including The Byrds, Gram Parsons and John Lennon) proved invaluable to the band throughout the recording process. Kim also co-wrote the song Slave Chain, one of the highlights of the album.
The Fortunate Sons have been touted for big things by other artists such as Steve van Zandt (Bruce Springsteen/Sirius Radio) who enthuses “these guys are f****** great!” Also, closer to home Amy MacDonald is a huge fan of the band and has gone on record saying she “loves the stuff”.
The band has been working hard over the past 18 months not only recording but touring extensively too. Germany, Italy, Scandanavia and of course the UK have all appeared in The Fortunate Sons tour schedule with festival dates including Big in Falkirk, Connect Festival and The Wickerman. This hard work will continue in 2009 with extensive touring at home and around Europe- including the Glastonbury Festival. Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has gone on record saying The Fortunate Sons are a "fantastic band, full of energy!".
