"For Those Who Know's music has an amazing complexity
to it that's hard to pick out unless your listening
for it, because otherwise the music as a whole is so
mesmerizing it's hard to think of anything else"
-Stage Scene
"Who needs the latest New Order set when For Those Who Know puts it out with energy included?"
-Austin Chronicle
"Austin's For Those Who Know serve up condensed, Wire-esque
art rock."
-LA Weekly
“For Those Who Know has been one of the most interesting bands on the Austin scene since the release of their self-titled debut EP on Christmas Mountain Records made them the local band to catch in late 2004 and well into 2005.
Their layered, ethereal blend of post-punk, shoegaze, and slow core influences placed them in their own niche among some of the Austin bands that ended up breaking out nationally in 2006. For Those Who Know was poised for a similar path after a national tour when they went on hiatus towards the end of 2005.
In 2006, back from their break and trimmed down to a three piece, For Those Who Know have picked up where they left off, but also show that they have developed a sonic maturity that only comes from slowing down and taking time away from things. The band has found negative space in their music. The dense, slow guitars are still there; but now have more room to breathe.”

For Those Who Know will be releasing an EP of unreleased material very soon. It will only be available online.

Our new album "Herbarium" is
out now on CdBaby (MP3 so far, physical CD is on its way).
Diverse palette of styles (post-rock,
ambient, electronica, trip-hop, with elements of noise, dub,
neoclassic and free improvisation), united by cinematic, slightly
pensive mood.
«Herbarium» is called so
because of heterogeneity of «songs», which can be
compared to miscellaneous leaves in the album, still being belonged
to the family of trees. Trying to avoid non-alive metaphors here,
only thought of diversity and warm and innermost feeling that
herbarium is capable to conjure up. «... This leaf I picked up
in the park where I met her, and this - I sat by the river,
contemplating...». So tracks were created – one was captured
in some magic jam, another – recorded layer by layer and
meticulously mixed then, next – cut from previous sessions and so
on.
All compositions are united by Poostosh
sense of music – mostly pensive, spatial, tender and experimental.
There's a lot of soul and charisma in every leaf... So please let
your soul look over our HERBARIUM.
We are very proud to announce, that Monocular s "Water Shape EP" is available at your favorite Online-Store now.
Containing the single "Water Shape" from the forthcoming album "Somewhere On The Line" (April 03, 2009 VierSieben Records/Alive) and three non-album tracks ("Consequence", "To Admire The Life", "Ravenclaw"), it is definitely a must have for all fans of filigree and athmospheric electrosounds.
Where bands like Lamb or Frou Frou left a gap in the late 90s and early 21st century, Monocular redefined the sound and set new standards in developing their complex music by connecting charismatic vocals with entrancing soundscapes.
