EAST COAST HOUSE MUSIC.
That gangsta shit...
For most people, house music in New York
typically brings to mind such acts as Masters At
Work, Armand Van Helden, Danny Teneglia
and so on and so forth. Likely due to the fact that
for years the NYC clubland and massive
electronic music events left little room for a
thriving UNDERGROUND house music community.
Although it has always existed, it has only
recently begun to come into it’s own and show
it’s potential internationally with it’s ever growing
population of internationally recognized talent including the 1200 Warriors,
The Hoodfellas, Troydon and of course...Hustle & Flow.
Hustle & Flow, ie, Ryan Kick and Brian Anderson
have been orgainizing and promoting underground house music events in New
York State since 2000. Through local networking
and dj swaps in 2006, Ryan and Brian were
able to pair up and eventually get into the studio together. After only a few short months, Hustle
& Flow’s debut release, the “Social Members EP"
was signed to Detroit imprint, Kolour, and quickly
rose to the number one spot on Stompy.com. With
no end in sight and countless hours in the studio,
Hustle & Flow continue to pump product and
catch mad play from such artists as Derrick Carter, DJ Sneak, DJ Heather and Jason Hodges. Keep your eyes out for upcoming releases on A Second Smell/Aroma, Jack The System, Greenhouse, Control, Tango and Herbal Essence.
Special shouts go out to Troydon, The 1200's, Derrick Carter, Jason Hodges, Heather, Raoul Belmans, Tony Hewitt, Sneak, Hawley, Anyo, Craig Hamilton, The Sceneheadz, William Alexander and everyone at Lingo, The Sound Diggers, Marko and Tari, Groove Fedederation, everyone at Aroma/A Second Smell, Tango, Nightshift, Detour, Greenhouse, Flatpack, Musique Boutique and Herbal Essence, Bananza, Peaches, Bassmint, Jak The System and the entire NY and Northeast house community, Big up!

The 'Old People Drive Too Slow EP' is the second release on the Moodclub Music imprint. The result is an interesting and varied fourtracker with tracks by Kinky Movement, Jazzy Eyewear, Demarkus Lewis and Belgian cats Soul Circus. Something for everyone, as they often say!
Some feedback to the Old People Drive Too Slow EP:
''Standout tracks for me are Kinky Movement 'You Make Me Feel' and Soul Circus 'You've Been On My Mind'''
(Andy Riley - Inland Knights, Toka Project)
''Thanks for the EP, really nice selection. My favourite is the Jazzy Eyewear track, but I also love the Kinky track, I'll play both of these for sure! Good luck to Soul Circus too, track sounding good.''
(Giom - Aroma)
''Very nice and varied second EP. I like all the tracks, the ones that I will play out the most are Jazzy Eyewear - 'Puffin' Away' and Kinky Movement - 'You Make Me Feel'''
(Tommy Largo - 1st spot in his Stompy chart)
''Very nice EP!! Really diggin' all four tracks!''
(Rick Preston)
''Cheers guys, feelin Demarkus' track.''
(Eddie Leader - Slum Science, Hudd Traxx)
''Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.''
