In a world where we are force fed what to like and dislike, what to read, think, feel, and see...A world so relentless with it's propaganda and programming, there needs to be something to snap mankind out of the pop culture coma induced by society, to bring attention to the nothingness, and light to dark, it's time for your de-programming... we are FUCK THE MAINSTREAM...
Fuck the Main$tream is an American Industrial Thrash Metal band from the South Texas area. The group has been terrorizing and offending parents, principals, pigs, religious fanatics, pussies, and concert fans in some form or fashion since early 2000. F.T.M. for short, have made quite a name for themselves in the underground scene and are seasoned veterans of the Texas music circuit. They have self released one album “Sursum Corda” 2005, five EP’s, and countless demos on their record label Fuck the Main$tream Records. Theatrics, Anti-propaganda, intense energy, and huge mosh pits have made their shows something to remembered and talked about for years. The band currently consists of Carlos Gonzales aka Solrac, Adam Gonzales aka Cowboy, Mike Valdez aka Mike, and Will Thompson aka Dwill/WilT. The group is currently busy prepping their sophomore effort "Time waits for no one" for a late august release. The band is also in the studio recording a brand new EP for release later this year through SPINALCORE RECORDS… "A little Proof" performed live by FTM
Q: WHY FUCK THE MAIN$TREAM? A: "As for why we use the name Fuck the Main$tream, or more so, what the name means to us is something you'll just have to ask each one of us...and depending on the day, our state of affairs, or the first song on an unknown mix tape that just happens to play that day, depends on the answer you'll get from us... the meaning as whole varies when the individual comes in to play. It's a powerful name with endless possibilities for interpretation. We have for years now, never formally publicly addressed what our name means to us... We've hinted at it at times... but always left it up to the listener's personal interpretation... and I am by no means trying to rob anyone of this luxury...and I actually encourage you the listener to ask yourself "What does "fuck the mainstream" mean to me?" Common misconceptions about our namesake usually just corner us in as being a metal band that's against POP music, MTV or Britney Spears...and truth be known we are... but that's just simply not all we're about... Some think "Oooo the name's just meant be crude, rude, and socially unacceptable"... well, in a sense it is...but once again that is more because of coincidence than intention...Others even assume that it stands for a fancy way of saying "FUCK EVERYTHING!" and it is, but still that's not exactly what it means to us... As we grow as a band, I find it increasingly more important to clarify this point... Recently, we made it easier on everyone - mostly those new to FTM - by providing straight literal dictation of our namesake's meaning within this pages' background... Still, it's a bit off from what it stands for to me, to all of us to an extent. Though, I'm sure that each one of us will tell you something else entirely if given the chance... To me, however, the name symbolizes both one of the most important elements of life [FREEDOM], and at the same time a personal life creed [Be yourself]... a way of life... to fuck the mainstream, to me, is to be FREE in the purest way... It's that extra "FUCK YOU" to all who would like confine the human spirit to a box or a number... who would like us all to look, think, see, feel, and essentially be the same... It's the slogan that changed my life... and I think if you give it the chance it could do the same for you... The music reflects this, and always has... it's because of this that I think we have been able to keep consistency throughout the various line up changes over the years... as long as we are free, tried, and true our music will continue to thrive... So knowing this now, I ask "Are you with us or against us?"
