Travis Dennison
bass
Travis Dennison started playing the violin when he was 8 years old. He quit his violin lessons a couple years later and -- with his brother and sister -- began performing fiddle tunes for the tourists in his hometown of Sitka. Along the way he learned guitar, bass, and piano. Although his background is mostly in jazz, he was recently introduced to the world of bluegrass, and ever since has been trying to find a way to work less so he can play more of it.
Tony Elder
guitar, vocals
Born in North Alabama and raised in Tennessee, Tony began playing guitar at 13. He has played in bands off and on since he was 15. Since moving to
Alaska in 2000, he has also performed as a soloist on stage. But, “playing with
Full Sail is like an ice cold beer on a hot summer day. It refreshes you best.”
Tony lives in Anchorage with his beautiful wife, Joy, and his toy dog, Daisy Mae.
In his other life, Tony is a principal designer of electrical systems for CH2MHill
acvivities on the North Slope oil fields.
Doug Schutte
banjo, vocals
Doug grew up listening to Mozart, Charlie Parker, Pink Floyd and everything
in between. He played the French horn for a number of years but gave it up for the
banjo because as he says, "you really can't sit around the living room with your
friends and jam on the French horn." Doug has been playing banjo for about 16 years.
During the day, Doug works for Siemens Building Technologies. At night, he likes
to hang out with his wife, Emily, and daughters, Grace and Kiley.
Kalia Yeagle
fiddle, vocals
As the daughter of a working musician, Kalia grew up sleeping in instrument cases
and coloring on bar tables. At the age of three, she picked up the fiddle (perhaps
the only instrument made small enough). Since then, she has kept up both the fiddling
and the classical side of the violin. Kalia is a fan of quirk, and listens to anything
bluegrass, jazz, blues, folk, rock-ish, experimental, classical, or worldly. Kalia
dreams of joining the ranks of the great jazz divas.
Bill Yeagle
mandolin, vocals
Bill has performed and recorded with many of Alaska’s premier acoustic bands including Grass Plus, McLeod, Bernard Glansbeek Quartet and Wellstrung. Obsessed with all
things mandolin, Bill lives on the hillside with his family and two border collies. During the day, Bill finds needles in large corporate databases. He longs to hike long distances with “Fiddling Mike” and canine pal, Ranger … bluegrass in the backwoods.
