Having been a drum and bass d.j until the late 90's, and with the influence of my brother Sonic (Space recordings), the sounds of hard, electronic beats have been firmly encrypted into my mind for some time now.
But with the consistently evolving sounds of electro into U.K bass , I found that my production techniques which began on a playstation copy of Music 2000, suited the kind of kinetic sounds I began to hear from the likes of people on my friends list.
Aside from drum and bass, my second biggest influence is the Norfolk party scene. Dancing or playing live sets in many a random field or forest helped to shape my sound, as did being in the marshy midst of musical sparring partners such as Synapse, Luke's Anger and Ed Chamberlain. However London's gravitational pull sucked me in when
in March 2006 I moved to Brixton To contiue my passion, creating bass laden beats.
Music:
Edd Smashback and Paul Blackford are getting their lable Bass Gun up and running. Look out for fullspectrum tracks.
Remix of I know you know, a tune for a forthcoming Hungarian net lable.
I have an ep on Digital Distortions ("Eating Apples in the Villain's Lair") which features 4 electro breaks tunes.
Then there is my e.p on Wide records (The Napalm ep), featuring 6 tracks, 2 purely dancefloor dnb tracks and 4 electro breaks numbers.
Next is the Run Cat ep on Virus B-23, which has two versions of run cat (the original 150bpm, and a 138bpm re-rub), along with a new track called Signals and a collaboration with Synapse: Scratchy (which Paul Blackford has included in a recent mix). The mastered ep sounds top.
Some sets I've loved :
Back to Back with Badazewski alogngside Mary-Anne Hobbes in Norwich at Sonic.
With Paul Blackford at Girth here in Brixton, at the Jamm, and the Telegraph.
Edd Smashback's night : Electrode at the Attic
